THE PEAK AWARD CUSTOMER SERVICE PROGRAM
Nebo School District wants to showcase our Positive Energy and Kind employees. PEAK Awards are nominated by patrons and recognized by the Superintendent Staff and Nebo School Board of Education. The award is administered by the Communications and Community Relations Department.

February 2014 PEAK Award Winners:

Terri Hales, Transportation, Oakridge
Nominated by: Teresa Gordon
“Terri goes above and beyond as a Nebo Transportation bus technician. She is always willing to help with our development disabled students. She goes the extra mile on a daily basis. She loves our students, and they love her. She sings to them and makes them ‘Happy, Happy, Happy’. I am glad Nebo School District hires people, like Terri, who care about our students”

Sandi Jorgensen, Secretary, Advanced Learning Center
Nominated by: Shannon Acor
“Perfection, love, kindness, empathy, dedication, acceptance, and devotion describe Sandi. My first experience with Sandi in the SHS Counseling Office was that she was kind and happy to help me. She remembered my name and my children by name each time. I noticed the counseling office was usually filled with students because they felt friendship and acceptance from Sandi. My son also proudly called her his friend. She has now moved her talents to the Advanced Learning Center. Her job does not end when her hours do. She continually supports the students and parents on her own time taking a personal interest in their successes and struggles. I am proud and honored to call her an associate but more importantly a friend!”

Diane Hamilton, Teacher, Springville Junior
Nominated by: Shellie Anderson & Linda Hanks
“Diane is always professional with parents, students and colleagues. She works well with others and has a knack to inject humor into whatever she is doing. Her students know she means business when she teaches, but they also know she cares for them as well.”

“I started teaching this year; and on my very first day, Diane was right there to make sure I felt successful. She was not assigned as my mentor, but she took it upon herself to go ‘above and beyond’ to help me feel accepted and comfortable in this new assignment. I appreciate the extra time and effort Diane took to help train me on vital programs used in the district and the school. She did all she could to make this transition smooth for not only me, but other teachers, students, and parents.”

Brent Coffman, Psychologist, Orchard Hills Elementary
Nominated by: Morgan Bulkley
“Brent is the first person everyone calls about any question regarding behavioral issues in the district. Brent is kind to answer all questions and assist in any way to help difficult children succeed in their class. Brent handles the most serious tragedies in our district. He is the lead for our Traumatic Events Crisis Intervention Team and is quick to respond and keep the team informed. Brent is the type of employee that everyone should admire because even in difficult situations and dealing with difficult people, Brent maintains a professional approach to solving problems and working in the best interest of students.”

Malynda Tolbert, Teacher, Salem Junior
Nominated by: Christine Beardall & Megan Langford
“Malynda Tolbert is committed to helping students succeed and is also a tremendous support to her colleagues. She works with students who can be difficult and behind. She is kind, but firm, and pushes them to work hard and see their own success. One recent example shows her level of commitment. A complex and time-bound situation presented itself. Malynda immediately volunteered her services to complete several Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings that were scheduled with parents the very next day. She spent hours of her own time in the evening preparing the necessary paperwork. Then she beautifully conducted the meetings without complaint. Malynda's willingness to do whatever it takes to support her colleagues and students is truly remarkable and appreciated.

Karen Leavitt, Facilitator, Taylor Elementary
Nominated by: Mike Sorensen
“Karen is ALWAYS working hard to help improve the instruction and learning in the classroom. She works tirelessly with her interns to help them plan and provide quality learning for students. She gives her interns opportunities to be successful as she models and gives feedback and works to help improve teaching. The teachers that she works with trust her opinion and go to her for help in any and all situations. She is one of the most dedicated educators around. Karen’s dedication to education on all levels is a wonderful reflection of Nebo School District.”

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
This initiative is designed to focus on "raising the bar" on providing exceptional customer service, both internally and externally. A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. The name and contact information of the nominator must be included.

Congratulations to Teresa Gordon for winning this week's challenge sponsored by Wiggy Wash.
