Seven Schools in Nebo Honored for Healthier Us School Challenge Award
Last week at their annual conference in St. George, Utah, Nebo School District's Child Nutrition Program was recognized for receiving the Bronze Award to the following elementary schools: Brockbank, Orchard Hills, Park, Rees, Santaquin, Taylor, and Wilson.

Kathleen Britton, Utah State Child Nutrition Director and Kim Loveland, Assistant Director of Child Nutrition congratulated Nebo as well as other Districts who have received the award.

Bill Vest, Nebo Supervisor of Food Services, mentioned that schools had to apply for the award and provide an increase of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Each school that achieved the national recognition was presented a banner that will be displayed in the cafeterias.

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 requires USDA to establish nutrition standards for all foods provided for students in school.

The health of today's school environment continues to improve. Students across the country are now offered healthier school meals with more fruits, vegetables and whole grains through the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program.

Bill Vest also enthusiastically proclaimed: "We are excited to be a part of the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs!" "We have excellent employees who are dedicated and work hard to serve students and faculty with "warm hearts and happy faces."
