Utah Announces Top Performing Title I Schools

Goshen Elementary in Nebo School District was selected as a top performing school. In academic performance, Goshen Elementary was in the top 15 percent of Title I schools and has either above average academic growth or above average academic achievement. The Title I accountability system for Utah utilizes results from the Utah Comprehensive Accountability System (UCAS) to identify high-performing Title I schools.

Principal Lynette DeGraffenried was honored at the Nebo School Board of Education on Wednesday and stated, “Our theme for the year is ‘Goshen Elementary - Where the MAGIC Happens Daily!’  We are always looking for the most appropriate way to help all students learn. My faculty and staff collaborates with each other and other grade levels.  We have great parental support.  Parents volunteer daily in our classrooms. Our School Community Council supports and encourages our faculty and staff to improve our skills.  I am blessed to work at a school where the ‘Magic truly Happens Daily’.”

The United States Congress has long recognized that higher poverty schools face unique challenges in educating students and provides supplementary assistance to those schools in the form of Title I funds. Schools that meet high levels of achievement and close the learning gap despite these challenges are to be commended.

Congratulations Goshen Elementary on a job well done.
