FFA Club Gives the Gift of Love

Submitted by lana.hiskey on

Maple Mountain FFA gave a gift of love to the Festival of Trees held in Sandy Utah.  This year the officers chose the theme of "We Wish You a Rustic Christmas".  Two senior boys, Shadoe Holm and Decker Nielson, designed and created the tree completely out of horse shoes.  It took 200 horseshoes and 15 hours to complete.  The tree was decorated simply by the rest of the officer team with lights and garland. Burlap boxes were designed to enhance the tree.

The officers delivered the tree Monday, December 1 to the South Towne Expo Center.  All the donated trees were auctioned off with all the proceeds going to the Primary Children's Medical Center.  This year MMHS FFA tree was purchased by the Tillotson Family Foundation for $2,000 (Higher than a normal price for a tree at the Festival!).   The "We Wish You a Rustic Christmas" tree was a crowd and committee favorite.  The tree was also mentioned by a local radio station as a "must see" tree at the festival.

Advisor, Kaylee Liddiard, thanks H2 Welding and Cal Ranch for helping donate some of the product used in creating in the tree.  The FFA club looks forward to working on a tree again and sharing a gift of love to those children in need.

Congratulations to Julie Peery winner of this week's "Where Are We Wednesday?" contest.  Thank you to Wiggy Wash for sponsoring this contest.
