Caryn Covington, Riverview Teacher, Received Excellence in Mentoring Award

Caryn Covington, a Special Education – Mild/Moderate Disabilities teacher at Riverview Elementary, was selected for the annual Cooperating Teacher Excellence in Mentoring Award given by the Department of Counseling Psychology and Special Education (CPSE) at Brigham Young University.

This award is given to exemplary teachers who convey a positive attitude toward the profession and have demonstrated a strong commitment to helping teacher candidates in the Special Education program acquire the skills necessary to become effective special education teachers.

BYU’s CPSE Department stated, “Caryn’s service as a cooperating teacher has aided in the preparation of several BYU student teachers, including those with varying abilities. Caryn goes the extra mile to support all teacher candidates, and we appreciate that. We recognize the great amount of time and effort she has dedicated to our teacher candidates. Her contribution is valuable to us in the preparation of future special educators.”

As the recipient of this award, Caryn will receive an award and have her name displayed on a plaque in the office of the CPSE Department at BYU.
