Hi, my name is Mrs. Durrant and I am the Media Specialist at Mt. Nebo Junior High. Welcome to the Media Center! I hope all of you will take the time to drop in and visit, see the wonderful collection of books (both fiction and non-fiction) that we have for your use, as well as the computer lab available to you both during school as well as before and after. I am excited to be able to help each and every one of you as I believe that reading is the most important skill that a person can obtain.

Card Catalog

Nebo School District uses the Follett Destiny Library System. Access to this system can only be made on a computer hooked to the district computer system. Therefore, our library is not available for searching at home.

Hours

7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except school holidays. When coming to the Media Center during the school day, please make sure that you have a permission slip or a classroom pass from your teacher or you will be sent back to class.

Checking Out Books

Students may have out three books at any one time from the library, unless there are any overdue books or fines assessed. The loan period is two week with one additional renewal period of two weeks, unless the book is extremely popular at the time and then the loan period will be limited to 1 week with no renewal. Students must have their Student Photo ID with them to check-out books. Reference books are the only books in the Media Center that may not be check-out.

Fines

A book that is overdue on its loan period will be assessed a .10 a day fine and will continue to accumulate until the book is returned or paid for. Books that are damaged or lost will be assessed a repair fine or replacement cost of book. Students need to understand that any fine accrued at Mt. Nebo Junior High and not taken care of before a student leaves will continue to follow them to another school in the district and must be paid before graduating from high school. As this could result in an extremely large and unnecessary fine, so students Be Responsible and get your books in on time.

Computer Use

The Media Center has 24 computers available for student use. These computers may be used at anytime during the school day if students have an appropriate Internet Useage Permission paper signed. In accordance to district policy, computers may only be used for research purposes. NO GAMES or accessing of GAME SITES will be allowed. Those who violate the district and/or school computer policy will not be allowed use of the computers in the Media Center. Each student may print out up to 10 pieces of paper for school purpose during the year without any cost, more than 10 pieces will be assessed a .05 per sheet cost.
