Spanish I
Special emphasis is placed on speaking and comprehension. Verb conjugation in the present tense, grammar, and vocabulary acquisition are the major focus of the class.
Spanish II
Continuing emphasis on building speaking and comprehension skills. This year will introduce the past tenses. New vocabulary, grammar and culture are interwoven in challenging and fun ways.
Prerequisite: At least a C/C+ each term in Spanish I

Chinese I (Mandarin) (19700)
Learn the basics of an exciting language spoken by one quarter of the people on earth. For this opportunity, an emphasis of study will be placed on beginning Chinese vocabulary, basic communication skills, use of tones in the language, and cultural information. Basic Chinese characters will also be introduced.
Chinese II (Mandarin)
Greater emphasis will be placed on an increased use of Chinese vocabulary, communication skills, and cultural information. More emphasis will be placed on correct sentence structure, proper use of grammar, and better under- standing of using tones in the language. Basic Chinese characters will be enhanced with simple reading and writing skills.
