Clothing Exploration
The goal in this class is to create a love for sewing in each student. Sewing will be the focus of this class. Girls and boys are invited to take this class. Each student will learn about construction preparation, vocabulary of sewing, sewing tools, and equipment. After preparation, a variety of projects will be completed including: a small bag with a zipper and buttonholes, an apron, pajama pants or shorts, a quilt block, a fun "Haan" craft project, and a project of choice.
Clothing I
This is a great class for 9th grade students. Intermediate sewing will be the focus of this class. We will begin with a review of construction techniques, pattern layout, and ironing/pressing information. Student will begin with fun shorts or drawstring PJ’s. Next, students can choose from a variety of more difficult projects that include techniques such as: zippers, collars, buttonholes, and set-in sleeves, etc. Many students enter the Make-It-Yourself With Wool contest held in the Fall. We do hand and machine craft projects to finish up the semester.
