Fine Arts Courses Offered

Art Foundation I
This class is designed to improve basic skills in drawing, composition, use of color, and creative problem solving. Basic vocabulary, higher-level thinking skills, aesthetics and art criticism built into assignments. Pencil, color pencils, watercolor, markers and ink are some of the media used. Two-dimensional and some three-dimensional work will be included.

Art Foundations II
This is for more advanced art students with strong drawing skills.  This course is an in-depth exploration of the visual arts through studying a variety of art tools, techniques and mediums.  There will be an emphasis on production, with drawing , painting, sculpture, print making, bookarts, fine art crafts and lettering.  The course is also designed to develop higher level thinking related to art criticism, art history and aesthetics awareness.
Prerequisite: Art Foundations I in 7th grade or equivalent

Digital Photography
This class is designed to teach students how to take quality pictures.  They will learn how to compose and modify photos digitally using the program Photoshop Elements.  Students will also use light and photographic equipment to create inventive art.  Access to a digital camera is highly recommended.  Students need to have completed Art Foundation I to enroll in this course.
