What does the message "Your allocated storage is almost full" mean?

It means that you have used most of the space allotted for email storage. Once you have used 100% of your allotted storage, no further email will be delivered to your email account.

You should cleanup your mail account by deleting email messages or removing whole mailboxes.

How much email can I save?

Each user has a set amount of storage for email.

    Staff Domain

30 Megabytes. This gives room for approximately 45,000 one paragraph email messages (assuming no graphics or attachments).

    Student Domain

3 Megabyte. This gives room for approximately 4,500 one paragraph email messages (assuming no graphics or attachments).

How many web pages can I have?

Each user has a set amount of storage for their personal website.

    Staff Domain

    300 files or 10 Megabytes.

    Student Domain

Users in the student domain do not have personal websites.

What options do I have if I want to store a lot of mail?

You can save email your computer or use POP mail.

How do I setup my POP mail client?

Can I save email to my computer?

Yes. However, you must save each email message separately.

When using WebMail, each email is shown as a web page. Your web browser will have an option to save a web page as a text file (in most web browsers you will choose Save As from the File menu and the select Save as type Text File). Or you can select the text and paste it into a text file.

You may also want to save attachments.

Can I save attachments to my computer?

    Yes.

It is good to realize that text email messages are quite small. However, graphics and attachments can be huge. One picture or movie clip can easily be 4,000 times the size of a text email. If you only stored text you could store an almost endless amount of email messages.

To save an attachment, right click on the link to the attachment and select Save Target As.
