Nebo Students Stole the Show

"Strutting Their Stuff"

Last Saturday Nebo students stole the show at the annual Utah Jr. Turkey Show in Tremonton Utah. Kailtin Hallam won the show with her 38.6 pound tom, followed by Lindsey Olsen with her 25.62 pound hen, and Kamrey Olsen filled the fifth spot with her reserve champion 35.09 pound tom. Kamrey also competed and received a $1,000 education scholarship for her 4-H portfolio. These students took three of the top six awards in the entire show.

Utah Symphony Provides Educational Program for Fourth-Grade Students

Monday, October 27, 2014, the Utah Symphony performed a special educational program for the Nebo School District fourth-grade students and their teachers.  

Gary Ofenloch, tuba player, chatted with students before the performance.  Each year the symphony performs for all Nebo fourth-graders.  

Teachers receive educational materials and recordings to help the students prepare for the event. Funding for this event is financed in part from the Utah State Legislature and Utah State Office of Education Professional Outreach for Public Schools program.

Veteran’s Day Honored

Children all over Nebo School District honored Veterans in their community. In many of the schools, the students dressed in their best attire and listened to testimonials of service. Some ideas and quotes included: “The land of the free, because of the brave,” “America, the home of the brave,” and Freedom is not free.”

Spanish Fork Junior High students were captivated by the Veteran’s Day program orchestrated by Becky Provstgaard. 

Everyday Heroes Celebrated at Sierra Bonita with Senator Henderson

Lightning speed, x-ray vision, and red capes are most commonly associated with the world of superheroes. However, students at Sierra Bonita elementary learned that heroes are more than humans with super powers. Heroes are ordinary people doing extraordinary things. On Friday, November 7, at a school-wide assembly, the student body was privileged to hear music, essays, and stories about everyday heroes from local heroes.
