Jimmy Banks, sweeper at Brookside Elementary School is retiring after 21 years of service. When asked about his time at Nebo School District, Jimmy replied, “Do your best. I enjoyed my co-workers’ friendships.” Jimmy has provided the sacrament bread each Sunday for over 40 years at his LDS ward. He enjoys walking, bike riding, and crocheting. Jimmy resides in Spanish Fork.
The Nebo School District Special Education Department and Maple Mountain High School hosted the second annual Nebo Superstars Track and Field Day on Thursday, May 17. The meet was designed for students with disabilities and was a special opportunity for special needs students and student athletes to spend the day together and participate in athletic events.
Parents in Spanish Fork have been notified regarding the current power outage at scattered schools in Spanish Fork. After evaluating the situation, as of 11:35am, we feel that it is in the best interest of students for the school to remain open and operate on a normal schedule. Bus routes will be running on a normal schedule.
The schools affected are Park Elementary, Larsen Elementary, Riverview Elementary, SFJHS, DFJHS, and Landmark.
Three students from the Nebo Youth Philharmonic Orchestra including Shaylee Balls, violinist from Salem Hills High; Kyle Hutchings, bass clarinet player from Spanish Fork High; and Diana Parkin, oboe player from Payson High were selected to perform with the Utah Symphony in a special All-Star evening held May 15, 2012. This event features selected students from youth symphonies throughout the state of Utah. Students are selected on their musicianship and dedication to the groups in which they perform. All three students have been members of the Nebo Youth Philharmonic for three years.
