Robert Schmoyer Awarded the Jack Erickson Excellence in Technology Service Award

Robert Schmoyer was awarded the Jack Erickson Excellence in Technology Services 2012 Award by the Utah Coalition for Educational Technology (UCET) that is an affiliate of the International Society of Technology in Education (ISTE).

Robert is the network engineer for Nebo School District and has worked for Nebo for eight years.  He manages the district’s network connecting 40 schools and several other facilities.  He works closely with UEN, CentraCom, and Spanish Fork Community Network to keep the network operational. 

Seth Sorensen, Author of The Utah Story, Visits Taylor Elementary

Nebo School District’s curriculum specialist and author of The Utah Story, took time to visit Taylor Elementary's fourth-grades.

The students look forward to science and social studies each day because they spend  time learning about the state of Utah.  Students in Mrs. Courtney Corbin’s and Miss Brittney Wayman's classes have been studying fossils and dinosaurs of Utah. 

Maple Mountain Art Teacher, Jethro Gillespie, Honored Utah Teacher of the Year

Jethro Gillespie, art teacher at Maple Mountain High, was selected as Art Teacher of the Year by the Utah Art of Education Association after many nominations from his peers.

“I feel very honored to receive this award, especially considering how many great art teachers there are in the state. I think that I couldn't be a part of such a strong program without the support of my fellow teachers, administration, and most of all, the awesome students and their willingness to work, share, and celebrate in art class,” said Mr. Gillespie.

Brenda Burr - Principal Sage Creek Elementary

Brenda Burr was appointed by the Nebo Board of Education as the principal of Sage Creek Elementary. She is currently the assistant principal at Salem Hills High, and previously taught English for 14 years, including nine years at Springville High School where she also served as cheer coach and student council advisor.  Mrs. Burr taught in four different states, Nevada, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Utah.

Brett White – Assistant Principal of Salem Hills High

With the appointment of Troy Bohling and Brenda Burr, there are openings at Salem Hills High. The Nebo School Board of Education would like to appoint Brett White as the new assistant principal of Salem Hills High School.

Mr. White is currently the assistant principal at Payson High School and has served there for the past four years. Before that, he taught math, history, Japanese, geography and physical education for 18 years at the Cornerstone program in Nebo School District.
