Superintendent Rick Nielsen Reading to Kindergarten Students

Kindergarten students at Canyon Elementary were treated with a wonderful surprise by Superintendent Rick Nielsen. He wished them well on their first day and read a story about sharing everything in kindergarten.

One of the kindergarten teachers, Mrs. Menlove, reported, "The Superintendent is a wonderful story teller."

Superintendent Nielsen’s focus is on students. Whenever a meeting is called or decisions are made, the question, "Is this best for students?" is always considered.

Welcome students! Let's make it another fantasic year!

Nebo School District Qualifies for Energy Star Rating

Nebo District Officials Meet with Governor Herbert at the Capitol -- Marvin Poulson, Steve Maughan, Matt Gledhill, Governor Herbert, Energy Officials

The State Energy Program and Governor Herbert recognized Nebo School District for participating in an energy management program to benchmark buildings. Nebo School District as been busy this past year reporting utility information and upgrades on each of the older schools and buildings as well as the new construction. The reporting was made possible through a partnership between the Utah State Government and the Cadmus Group.

Krystal Baker Selected to Attend National Journalism Conference

Krystal Baker, English and journalism teacher at Payson High School, was selected as one of the 165 journalism teachers nationwide and 1 of 3 from Utah to attend, a national and advanced journalism conference, this summer in Reno, Nevada.

The journalism teachers were urged to be bold, lead, and innovate. The conference is part of an ongoing national effort to grow an informed citizenry that can discern quality news and create multi-media youth journalists.

Opportunity for Students' Artwork on Display

Mr. Gillespie, art teacher at Maple Mountain High School, was asked to invite art students to publicly display their works of art and poetry on Saturday, September 10 at 6:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Billboard Poetry Project at Memorial Park on 800 East and Center in Provo, Utah.

Phillip Brown designed the billboards and promotional materials for the project. Three billboards, north of McDonalds on State Street in Springville, will display Derek Henderson’s poem through the month of September.

Jeffrey D. Peterson – Assistant Legal Counsel

The Nebo School Board of Education appointed Jeffrey D. Peterson as the assistant legal counsel for Nebo School District. After consolidating and reassigning some job duties from multiple personnel retiring, Nebo will have Mr. Peterson will working on district policies and 504 assignments.

        Back to school includes immunizations to keep ALL students safe

PROVO, UTAH (August 8, 2011) - - Pencils and binders are not the only thing students need as they prepare to return to school. Children entering kindergarten or seventh grade are required by law to receive standard immunizations before classes begin again.
