The warm days of September are a perfect time to hold a benefit golf tournament. MHTN Architects held their First Annual Client Appreciation Charity Golf Tournament at Thanksgiving Point a couple of weeks ago. Nebo School District sent a golf team consisting of Tim Braithwaite, former Superintendent Chris Sorensen, Dave McKee, and Ron Jensen.
KSL Radio and Zions Bank honored Deanne Helquist, orchestra teacher at Mapleton Junior High in Mapleton, for the "Teacher Feature" program this past week. This program was developed to recognize outstanding teachers who have gone the extra mile, not only in the classroom, but who have also made a significant impact on many young lives.

Many schools in Nebo School District including approximately 3,000 students took advantage of the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall at the Spanish Fork Cemetery on Thursday, September 9 through Monday, September 13, 2010. The students were impressed by the number of men and women, 58,000, who died trying to preserve freedom. Some students made rubbings of names for keepsakes and some students even found relatives listed on the Memorial Wall. It was an exciting learning experience for all that attended this historic monument.
About 1.5 million juniors in some 22,000 high schools entered the 2011 National Merit
Scholarship Program by taking the 2009 Preliminary sat/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (psat/nmsqt®), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, which represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.
The United Way of Utah County organized a "Day of Caring" from which Nebo School District benefited with various service efforts.
Volunteers from several organizations, BYU, Culinary Crafts, Women in Philanthropy, showed up in Nebo School District at the Nebo Learning Center. The volunteers put Phonics Lessons together for the new teachers in the district.
There was also a significant amount of work done at Shadow Mountain.
WASHINGTON, D.C.--July 2010--Dwight Liddiard, East Meadow's Principal and a Nebo School District administrator, recently visited Washington, D.C., with more than 400 colleagues for a joint meeting of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), which brings together affiliate associations from all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
