Nebo Salem Outdoor Wetlands Classroom (SOWC) Field Trip

The foundation can provide grants for field trips to the one-acre wetland adjacent to Salem Pond which provides an outdoor classroom for school kids.

Mini Grant Request Guidelines

Funding goal:

30 schools @ $100 to $400 each, based on the number of classrooms

Funding Procedure:

Individual teachers or grade team groups may apply for a mini SOWC Field Trip Grant through the Nebo Education Foundation. Monies must be used to complete an educational field trip that includes visiting and performing science related activities at the Salem Outdoors Wetlands Classroom—located adjacent Salem Pond in Salem City. Proposals must include at least one appropriate core curricula connection to the planned activities. Submitted Projects should include specific goals and measurable student outcomes. Allowable uses for funds can include: transportation costs, food costs, entry fees, or material costs. A final report will be required of all grantees documenting the results as per the project’s projected outcomes. Extra points will be given to proposals that include a sustainability plan. The involvement of community partnerships will also enhance proposal scores. Applications should be no longer than two double spaced pages.
