We just want to remind you all of the Brockbank Open House today from 4:00-6:00 pm!  We are all so excited to see you and to have you meet your child's teacher!  You'll see a few new faces at our school this year!  We are excited to introduce to you, Mrs. McMullin in 2nd grade, Mrs. Larsen in 3rd grade, Mrs. Sanford and Ms. Huyett in 5th grade, Mr. Loreen in 6th grade, Mrs. Lier in Special Education, Mrs. Jones, our computer technician, and Mrs. Stevenson, our music technician.  Each of these people will be such a dynamic addition to our already wonderful staff!

At our Open House you will also be able to join PTA. For those who join PTA, you will receive a discount card for local businesses!  We appreciate all that our PTA does for our school!  Our students benefit so much from the programs that our great PTA put into place!

Please before to pick up a school magnet that gives information about the school, scheduling, dates, and times.  With the magnets, we will have information about our new School Mission Statement and Motto, along with our policies and procedures.  Please read them carefully and help your child in understanding what we are doing to keep our students safe here at Brockbank!

You will also be able to sign up for SEP Conferences through Sign up Genius!  You can do that either in the computer lab or in your child's classroom.  Our SEP Conferences are scheduled for October 26th, January 11th, and March 15th, all from 3:00-8:30.

Look for information about our School Community Council!

Also, we have a INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE!  When you come to the Open House today, take a picture of your child somewhere in the school; with your child's teacher, by our new flagpole, by the library, etc.   Tag us in your picture, and use our new hashtags for the year, ( #BrockbankBest, #BrockbankBFF, and #LookatBrockbank)!  We would also LOVE you to LIKE us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram, Twitter, and of course our web page!  We already have some fun clips with the eclipse!

We are so excited for our Open House and for tomorrow!  Remember, school begins at 8:45 (that being the late bell).  We are so excited and know that this will be the BEST year ever!

My  BEST,

Mrs. Nelson

The National FFA Organization announced that Jake Jones, from Spanish Fork High in Nebo School District, was selected as a national finalist for the National FFA Proficiency Award in Wildlife Production and Management - Entrepreneurship/Placement. Jones is one of only four people chosen to compete for this award at the national finals to be held this October during the 90th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.

The proficiency awards recognize outstanding student achievement in agribusiness gained through establishment of a new business, working for an existing company or otherwise gaining hands-on career experience. The Wildlife Production and Management - Entrepreneurship/Placement award is one of 47 proficiency program areas FFA members can participate in to develop valuable experience and leadership skills at the local, state and national levels.

Jones, a member of the Spanish Fork FFA Chapter, became eligible for the national award after winning the Utah state FFA competition earlier this year. In recognition of being a finalist, each of the four finalists will receive a plaque and $500. The national winner of the Wildlife Production and Management - Entrepreneurship/Placement Award will receive an additional $500 during a special ceremony at the National FFA Convention & Expo.

This award is sponsored by Yamaha Motor Corporation USA as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.

Porter Olsen was also named a Agriscience Fair finalist and will have the chance to compete at National FFA Convention. He will present his project on how light effects the growth rate of turkeys along with 13 other finalists. Gold and Silver rankings will be given and a top 3 selected. Two junior high students Ashley Olsen and Rylei Voorhees were also selected as Agriscience Fair finalists.

The National FFA Organization provides leadership, personal growth and career success training through agricultural education to 649,355 student members who belong to one of 7,859 local FFA chapters throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The organization is also supported by 225,891 alumni members in 1,934 alumni chapters throughout the U.S.

Springville High students and community members came out in large numbers to support their Red Devil football team last Friday evening, August 18, before school officially starts on Tuesday, August 22.  The entire game was exciting ending in a close loss to Dixie, 35-34.

With under two minutes remaining, Springville’s (0-1) senior quarterback Ty Eriksson ran for a 26-yard touchdown bringing the Red Devils only 1 point away from a potential tie.  Unfortunately for the Red Devils, they were unable to put the football through the uprights ending in a Dixie 1 point win.

Join the Red Devils as they travel to local rival Spanish Fork on Friday, August 25.
