SCHOOL CELEBRATIONS
Utah Prevention Day gives secondary schools around the state an opportunity to celebrate the prevention lessons that students have learned throughout the year. Teachers can review and reinforce those life skills taught before students leave for the summer. We want to protect our students from the dangers of drugs, under-age drinking, violence, crime and bullying.

There will be a central celebration of Utah Prevention Day on May 3, at the Smith’s Ballpark with the Salt Lake Bees and 12,000 students and teachers. Governor and Mrs. Herbert will be in attendance to present the signed declaration. As a part of the state-wide celebration, schools are encouraged to do an activity promoting a prevention message, either on May 3, or sometime before the end of the school year.

On March 30, the fifth grade traveled to Fairfield for a field trip to Camp Floyd.  The students had the opportunity to learn about the Civil War and learn about the history of Johnson's Army.  They made adobe bricks and dipped candles.  They rode in the Pony express, attended school in 1861 and visited the commissary and the Stagecoach Inn. We found out that our presenter, Mr. Mark Trotter, was retiring that day.  It was his last field trip and we had the honor.  KSL was there to honor this man and had a feature on him on the news.  Here is the link:   http://ksltv.com/393342/change-coming-to-camp-floyd-state-park/

Has your child been asking you for a pet reptile? Have they been rattling off random facts about cold blooded animals? Well, that is because students here at Park View were dazzled, amazed, and at times shocked at the reptiles presented at our third term rewards assembly. The assembly was educational and hands-on! What’s better than that? We are pretty sure everyone left wanting a pet reptile of their own.

Disney Dance

Spanish Fork Junior High School News - Mon, 04/30/2018 - 7:43am

Friday, April 27 was the Disney themed school dance! The dance was held in the lunch room, which was decorated by our impressive student council. There was also a costume competition. People had amazing costumes including Rapunzel, Bell, a Wizard, Queen Guinevere, and even some interesting background characters! It was well attended and everyone looked like they were having fun. There were plenty of beautiful decorations like silhouettes of Disney characters. The music ranged from Disney music to the Cupid Shuffle. In a competition set up by the DJ, we found out that the girls choice dances were more crowded than the boys choice. What a great way to end the year! Thanks, Student Council!
