Fifth graders have been learning about Native Americans in class and got to enjoy a special presentation from Mrs. Beyal last week. We learned that there is a lot of Native American influence in Utah and our American History. A lot of our food, vocabulary, herbs, and games have Native American roots. The students also learned about diversity and race, and how one color of skin is no better than another.

Can you guess which of the following things were influenced by Native Americans?

A. The Constitution of the United States

B. Lacrosse and Hockey

C. Tomatoes and Avacados

D. Success in WWII

E. All of the above

If you guessed "E. All of the above", you are correct!

Thanks Mrs. Beyal for teaching us so much about our history!

Welcome to MNJHS Mrs. Brown, 7th/8th Grade Math Teacher

Mt Nebo Junior High School News - Mon, 09/18/2017 - 10:48am

I was born in Payson, but I moved to Albuquerque New Mexico and then to Evanston, Wyoming. I moved back to Payson in time for Junior High and then moved to Elk Ridge during my high school years. I graduated from Payson High School and then went on to BYU where I got a degree in accounting. I worked in the accounting department of a grocery chain store until I had my first child. After having 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls, I began subbing when they all entered school. I started tutoring other kids at the same time. I tutored reading and some science, but mostly I tutored math from kindergarten up to college algebra and some basic calculus. While I was subbing I also worked at SHHS giving their AP tests, SAT tests, and ACT tests. I really enjoyed helping kids get their GED so they could graduate or pass other tests like the ASVAB.  I currently live in Genola with my husband and I love it there. My oldest son is married with a little girl and one on the way. My oldest daughter teaches English at Mountain View High School. My second daughter is doing elementary education at UVU and my youngest son just graduated and is on a mission in Jamaica.

Orchard Hills Elementary News - Mon, 09/18/2017 - 8:19am

(more pictures available)

The kindergarten classes just finished learning about different emotions and feelings they have and how to deal with different emotions.  They were able to share things that make them happy and excited.  They also learned about how to help people who feel sad and also what they can do to calm down if they get angry or mad.  They learned that they can walk away, take deep breaths, get a drink, color, talk to someone, exercise, and more.  They have also been working on fine motor skills and how to use scissors and glue.  Here are some of their creations.
