Brockbank Bulletin

Brockbank Elementary News - Wed, 09/05/2018 - 7:50am

Hello, Brockbank Families!

I hope you enjoyed Labor Day and were able to do some fun things with family and friends!  We look forward to another busy, but great week, here at Brockbank!

Reflections:  We are so excited for our Reflections Contest that is going on NOW!  The theme is, “Heroes Around Me!” Please encourage your child to get involved and participate in this fun event!  We want to thank Cindy Shepherd for helping us with this, and if you have any questions, please contact her at

Box Tops:  Some of you have probably noticed the Super Hero in our entrance way!  We are getting ready for a little Box Top Competition.  You will also notice the Hero poster showing what Box Tops have been brought in!  We hope you will start collecting those Box Tops and have your child bring them in!  We appreciate the money that it brings to our school!

Picture Day:  September 11th will be our Picture Day!  Lifetouch will be taking the pictures for our school!  Packets will be coming home soon with information!

Bond Presentation: There will be a special Bond Community Presentation, Wed., Sept. 5th,  at Salem Hills High School, at 6:00pm for those interested in receiving more information about the School Bond.

Minimal Day:  Monday, Sept. 17th, our students will be dismissed at noon.  This is a time where our teachers will receive important instruction and give them time to work on required assignments from the District.  We so appreciate your support with this valuable day for teachers!

Parents, I am extremely concerned about the safety of our students after school.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT WALK YOUR CHILDREN ACROSS THE STREET IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD! Please use the intersection where there is a crossing guard.  Together, let’s set an example our children!

Please make sure to be polite and courteous when driving and picking up your child.  Take your time and DO NOT park and get out of your car along 300 West.  We need to keep that area moving to get cars in and out.

Please do not park along the areas where the buses come in.  There are cones along the areas where we do not want cars.  If you want to park in a parking stall, that is fine, but make sure you get out of your car and walk your child back to your car.  We do not want children crossing alone where the buses come in.

If you did not get a school magnet, please grab one from the office!
We invite you to LIKE us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as our own Brockbank website!  Follow us on Instagram--#Brockbankbest, #Lookatbrockbank, and #BrockbankBFF

Please check our website for more info!

Thanks for being the BEST!  We look forward to a fantastic year!

Mrs. Nelson

School-wide Read Aloud - Restart

Salem Junior High School News - Wed, 09/05/2018 - 7:43am

In an effort to encourage literacy with all of our students, the English department decided to try a school-wide read aloud to start off the year. Every English teacher has been reading the book Restart, by Gordon Korman, to their classes. Students have been participating in online discussions with other classes, answering questions about the development of the story and the various themes that they have seen developing.

Restart is about a school bully who receives a head injury after falling off of his roof and wakes up several days later with amnesia. He doesn't remember anything about his life before the fall and as he slowly learns who he is, he has to decide what kind of person he wants to be. It's a fun read with a great message for students. We will be reading the book for about another week, but the English department would like to encourage parents to read it as well, so they can have a conversation about it with their students.

Lobo Update 9/4/18

Spanish Fork Junior High School News - Tue, 09/04/2018 - 6:09pm

Parents, Students, and Friends -

One of the ways we Live the Lobo Way is to STRENGTHEN THE PACK. Students, this week think about and act on ways you can positively contribute to your class, your school, and your community. Come to the office and share your experience with Mr. Christensen, Mrs. LeMmon, or Mr. Mortensen for a small treat!

Research shows that missing 10 percent of the school, or about 18 days in most school districts, negatively affects a student’s academic performance. That’s just two days a month and that’s known as chronic absence. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.

Girls Tennis Tryouts are this Friday at 3pm. All girls trying out need to have returned their forms including their Preparticipation Physical Evaluation. Those forms can be turned in to Coach Moss or Coach Lawrence. All girls should also pick up a copy of our meet schedule from Coach Moss. If any student still wanted to try out, but did not attend the informational meeting, please see Coach Moss for the form packet. Most forms are available on our school web site.

New clubs are starting next week.  Mondays will be Card Making Club and Wednesdays will be STEM: Coding & Robotics.  We still have Tuesdays for Chess or Dungeons & Dragons, Wednesdays German Club, Thursdays Magic the Gathering or Improv, Fridays Meditation.  We meet in the Lobo Den at 2:45 pm and clubs run until 4:15 pm.

Parents, if you haven't applied for free and reduced lunches for this school year do it ASAP!!  Students who had been on this program last year and not reapplied for the 2018-2019 school year will not continue to receive these benefits BEGINNING October 1, 2018.

  • Sept 7 - Basketball Intramurals @ 6:00am, Cross Country Meet @ Mapleton 3:30pm, and Tennis Tryouts 3:00pm

  • Sep 5,6,7 - Flag Football Intramurals @ 2:45pm

The Gingerbread man came back to kindergarten on Thursday. It sure has been an exciting first week! The kindergarten students have looked all over the school and met many of the faculty and staff as we went. We wrote letters inviting the Gingerbread man to return. We graphed which part of the Gingerbread man we would like to eat first. And in the end, we discovered that he tasted delicious!

Wilson Elementary News - Tue, 09/04/2018 - 3:22pm

It is time for another year of choir to begin! Choir is for ANY 2nd to 6th graders. We learn a variety of songs and have performances in December. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the lunchroom beginning August 28th. As a rule, if there is school we have choir.

The purpose of choir is to gain a greater love of music, have the opportunity to perform and be a part of an amazing group. Members of the choir should attend all rehearsals, be respectful of Miss Diana and other choir members, and HAVE FUN!

Every choir member needs to have a choir shirt that can be worn for rehearsals and MUST be worn for performances. The shirt color and design will never change, so once you have a shirt there is no cost to be in the choir. If you are new and need a shirt, or just want a new shirt, you can order one.

To become part of our Wilson Choir, please fill out the form from the office and bring $5 for a shirt if you ordered one to the office. Make checks payable to Wilson Elementary.

If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an email. Diana Hunt 801-367-8658 I can’t wait! See you there!
