Utah Valley Chamber of Commerce held the 5th Annual Business & Education Partnership Awards breakfast on October 5th. Salem City Recreation Department was recognized and honored.

"The Salem City Recreation department sponsors the Salem Pond Town Track Meets each year for all the elementary 3rd-6th grade students in Salem. Last year with the help of Foothills PTA, they also planned some fun Red Ribbon Week activities, including a Minute to Win It assembly. Matt Marziale, Salem City Recreation Director, and Jen Wright Salem City Recreation Manager, have children at our school and offer their support and help as parents too."

As a way to say thank you to the firefighters who bravely fought so hard to keep our community and our homes safe, Mrs. Nebeker had the students write thank you notes and decorate posters. Thank you firefighters, we are so grateful!!

The students in Mrs. Russell's 6th grade class were given a STEM challenge where they had to move supplies over a large barricade without building a bridge or using air support. It's always so fun to see students think outside of the box. Nice work, Mrs. Russell's class!

Just Jumpin' Assembly

We had the opportunity to have the jump rope group, Just Jumpin' come to our school and get us excited about beng physically active. They amazed us with their incredible routines and even got some students and teachers jumping!

We are so lucky that we get to have Mr. Hanosek at our school. He is our school's digital coach and is here to help teachers and students incorporate technology in meaningful ways. Mr. Hanosek came into Mrs. Brindley's class to help her students with using Chromebooks.

When a student sees Mr. H enter their classroom, they know it's going to be a fun day!

Building a Classroom Community in Third Grade

The students in Mr. Thurgood's class had to grab a plastic cup using a rubber band and stack the cups on top of each other. Activities like these require teamwork, build the classroom rapport and community, and are fun! Nice work, Mr. Thurgood's class!
