Brookside Elementary was honored to celebrate local veterans on Friday. Many of the students expressed being very humbled by the experience to meet and listen to these various military veterans. We also had parents in the audience that we recognized for their military service. We gave each veteran a white rose. The students participated by bringing pictures of family members who have served in the military and by making many class posters as a tribute. We as faculty and staff were amazing at how respectful and quiet the student were during the assembly.

November 6, 2017

Here are just a few reminders for the upcoming week:

  • In preparation for our Veteran’s Day assembly on Nov. 10th, students are invited to bring a picture of a relative, friend, or neighbor who has served in the military with a short paragraph about that person. Please send a copy of the photograph just in case the picture gets torn or damaged. We have also asked that students wear red, white, and blue, if possible, for the assembly on November 10th. Thank you! If you have any questions, please call the school office.

  • We will be having a Scholastic Book Fair the week of November 13th. It will be located on the stage in the auditorium and not the library as in previous years. If you would like to volunteer as a worker during the book fair, please use the link below and sign up for a time. We are so grateful for the efforts of our PTA!

It has been a very busy week here at Brookside Elementary but many students still found the time to do praise worthy acts around the school. Etta Kmetzsch helped a 1st grader when hurt, Sina Afemui is always willing to help a fellow student, Alaynia Forbush has a positive attitude, Ezra Betts helped a friend clean up a mess, Ashley Fitzgerald helps to keep her classroom clean, Brayden Smith helped Mr. McCarty in the lunch room, Joshua Talbot helped out in the lunch room, Oakley Johnson really worked hard at learning our veterans day songs, Jason Truscott set up classroom chairs, T-Roy York helped another student find a lost item, Ben Smith is a great example, Christian Tenney is a stellar student, Sawyer Grover is an exceptional student, Ryker Mortensen is an active learner and does his best, Taylor McFerson picked up trash outside, and Paige Blackburn is excited for reading everyday.

Thank you to all our students who try their best everyday, we appreciate you and your hard work at making positive decisions. Thank you to Brick Oven for donating free kids meals for the students.
