SafeUT Awareness Days February 22 & 23

Thu, 02/22/2018 - 1:04pm

In light of the recent events in Florida and other tragedies that have happened around the country, Nebo School District is teaming up with KSL on February 22, 2018, as we Stand Up for a Safe Utah. Utah has a very powerful resource and that is the SafeUT app.  As you all know, the SafeUT app provides real-time crisis intervention and has been proven to save lives and stop planned school attacks.

Our goal is to make sure that every parent, student and educator is aware of the app and has it downloaded on their phone.

Throughout the day, KSL will be highlighting all that the app can do, the history behind it, the success stories and much more. In addition, there will be some fun for the students. Below is the outline to encourage student involvement:

  • Encourage your friends to download the app
  • Use hashtag #SafeUT on posts

KSL Contest:

  • Individuals will be able to share a screenshot of their phone with the app downloaded for a chance to win a $50 VISA card
  • These screenshots will need to be posted in the contest on the KSL TV Facebook page
  • The school that is tagged the most by their students will receive 100 pizzas from KSL!
  • The contest will start Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m.

Watch KSL News at 5 p.m. on Friday to see which school will be receiving 100 pizzas!

Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018

Wed, 02/14/2018 - 9:32am
Attributions:

Nebo School District is always trying to improve communication and responsiveness to our stakeholders. To that end, we invite students, parents and teachers to give feedback on teachers and administrators in Nebo District schools.  A link to the Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018 will be found on the Nebo home page at www.nebo.edu beginning Wednesday, February 7 and remaining open until Wednesday, February 21, 2018, where Nebo District stakeholders will be able to share their thoughts and experiences. (Parents and employees will be emailed a link to help them gain access, while students will be shown the link in their computer labs.)

The purpose of the Nebo Stakeholder Survey is to help us improve instruction and to keep our finger on the pulse of our patrons. For feedback to be most useful, we suggest being polite even when sharing intensely positive or negative feelings, sharing specific experiences that illustrate your ratings, and using appropriate language in all circumstances.

Thank you for your helpful feedback.

Exciting state finish for Red Devil swimmers

Tue, 02/13/2018 - 6:48pm

(more pictures available)

The 5A State Championship Swim Meet was held this past weekend, February 9-10, at South Davis recreation center in Bountiful.  Overall, it was a successful meet for the SHS swimmers.

The girls took 9th overall and boys took 4th.  Two of the boys relays took 2nd with one race 7/100th's of a second behind 1st.  Cameron Green is a State Champion in the 100 meter backstroke.  He also won the overall Individual State Championship for most points, and he is only a Sophomore.

The SHS State team was represented by the following swimmers:
Women’s team:
Junior Natalie Mertz - 200 medley relay, 50 free, 100 backstroke & 400 freestyle relay.
Senior Tanna Smallcomb - 200 medley relay, 100 Butterfly, 100 backstroke & 400 freestyle relay
Junior Nicole Pope - 200 medley relay & 400 Freestyle relay
(Nicole was also an alternate in both the individual 50 and 500 freestyle)
Senior Anna Brower - 200 medley relay
Junior Hanna Daines - 400 freestyle relay

The women’s team had great relay efforts with some fast splits that resulted in best times for both relays and a drop in placement compared to their initial seeding.

Men’s team: (4th place overall)
Sophomore Jordan Pugmire - 200 Medley relay
Senior Kaden Jepperson - 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle & 200 freestyle relay
Senior Michael Armstrong - 200 medley relay, 50 freestyle & 100 butterfly
Sophomore Braxton Armstrong - 200 medley relay, 100 butterfly, 100 breaststroke, & 400 freestyle relay
Senior Cougar Pope - 50 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 freestyle, & 400 freestyle relay
Senior Spencer McQueen - 200 Individual medley, 200 freestyle relay, 100 freestyle & 400 freestyle relay
Sophomore Cameron Green - 200 freestyle, 200 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke & 400 freestyle relay.

Spencer McQueen earned a spot on the podium in both of his individual events in which he placed 5th in the 200 IM and 4th in the 100 freestyle. Cameron Green took 3rd place in the 200 freestyle. He also stood at the top of the podium as the 5A State Champion in the 100 backstroke with a time of :49.95.  That time not only lowered his own school record set earlier this season, but also claimed the 5A State record and was also an All-American consideration time.  His fast swims earned him the 2018 State high point award and was named the male swimmer of the meet.

Congratulations to all the SHS swimmers who swam their best.  We had many great races with personal best times. It was an exciting meet but bitter sweet for all of our seniors who swam their last meet with a Red Devil cap.  They will be missed next year.

Boys relay teams take home 2nd place state finish in 200 and 400 freestyle

Both the Red Devil men’s 200 and 400 freestyle relays just barely got touched out at the finish to claim 2nd place state finish for both relays, but those relays were exciting to watch.

The 200 freestyle relay with Spencer McQueen, Cougar Pope, Kaden Jepperson and Cameron Green set a new SHS school record.  The 400 freestyle relay as a whole narrowly missed the school record by only .23 seconds, but Cameron Green’s lead off relay split broke the 100 freestyle school record.
