PJHS Advanced Orchestra Receives Superior Rating

Mon, 03/12/2018 - 7:48am
Attributions: Article by Mrs. Petrucka

Congratulations to the Advance Payson Jr. High Orchestra for their performance at the Nebo School District Assessment last Thursday, March 8th. They received a straight superior, which is the highest grade possible. The guest judge was none other than Denise Willey, who got our school's whole string program going here in Payson about thirty years ago, and who we have to thank for our wonderful tradition of excellent string classes in our area. Denise was so impressed with our school's performance and had nothing but positive comments--both on our assessment form and in person.

This was our students' best performance, and they certainly deserved a straight superior. Way to go, PJHS!

March Mayor Award

Thu, 03/08/2018 - 7:42am

The recipient of the Mayor Award for March is PJHS student Spencer Bennett (9th grade). Spencer was selected for this award because he works hard and participates in class. He is mature and responsibile, and makes sure to include other people. Here's what some of Spencer's teachers have to say about him:

Spencer is so positive and such a good influence on other athletes. He knows how to set goals, work hard, and then reach those goals. – Mrs. Bragg

Awesome student! Deep questions and comments in geography - offers different perspectives few students realize. Kind and inclusive. - Ms. Clayton

Spencer (Spinney) is an impressive young man. I taught him in ECS last semester. He is very accomplished as a student with many skills that will help him during his lifetime. He completes assignments regularly and on time. He works well with others, especially girls, and he treats other students with patience. He is kind, respectful and well-mannered in class. I enjoyed teaching him. - Mr. Howell

Spencer is very sweet and helpful to those around him. He makes a point to include everyone and is quick to make friends with kids who need a friend. On top of these characteristics, Spencer is a high achiever academically, not shying away from a challenge and persevering until he not only understands concepts but can explain them to others in his group. – Mrs. Failes

Spencer is amazing student who loves learning and is a true Renaissance man. – Mr. Stoddard

Congratulations, Spencer! Thank you for being an example of a true Grizzly Hero!

SafeUT Awareness Days

Thu, 02/22/2018 - 7:26am

In light of the recent events in Florida and other tragedies that have happened around the country, Nebo School District is teaming up with KSL on February 22, 2018, as we Stand Up for a Safe Utah. Utah has a very powerful resource and that is the SafeUT app.  As you all know, the SafeUT app provides real-time crisis intervention and has been proven to save lives and stopped planned school attacks.

Our goal is to make sure that every parent, student and educator is aware of the app and has it downloaded on their phone.

Throughout the day, KSL will be highlighting all that the app can do, the history behind it, the success stories and much more. In addition, there will be some fun for the students.

Below is the outline to encourage student involvement:
- Encourage your friends to download the app
- Use hashtag #SafeUT on posts

KSL Contest:

Individuals will be able to share a screenshot of their phone with the app downloaded for a chance to win a $50 visa card. These screenshots will need to be posted in the contest on the KSL TV Facebook page. The school that is tagged the most by their students will receive 100 pizzas from KSL! The contest will start Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m. Watch KSL News at 5 p.m. on Friday to see which school will be receiving 100 pizzas!

2017-2018 Stakeholder Surveys

Fri, 02/16/2018 - 12:30pm
Attributions:

Nebo School District is always trying to improve communication and responsiveness to our stakeholders. To that end, we invite students, parents and teachers to give feedback on teachers and administrators in Nebo District schools.

A link to the Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018 will be found on the Nebo home page at www.nebo.edu beginning Wednesday, February 7 and remaining open until Wednesday, February 21, 2018, where Nebo District stakeholders will be able to share their thoughts and experiences.

The purpose of the Nebo Stakeholder Survey is to help us improve instruction and to keep our finger on the pulse of our patrons. For feedback to be most useful, we suggest being polite even when sharing intensely positive or negative feelings, sharing specific experiences that illustrate your ratings, and using appropriate language in all circumstances.

Thank you for your helpful feedback.
