Storyteller Donald Davis Wows DFJHS Crowd

One of the United States most sought after storytellers, Donald Davis put on a show for Diamond Fork students and faculty yesterday morning.The author of eighteen books and more than forty original recordings, Davis is the recipient of both the Circle of Excellence and the Lifetime Achievement Awards from the National Storytelling Network. First Deaf Player in the NBA Kicks Off DF Hero Theme!

Lance Allred was the guest speaker of our kick off hero theme assembly for the year. Mr. Allred, after numerous setbacks, ended up playing for Clevland in the NBA. He spoke to the students about perseverance, integrity, getting out of your comfort zone, compassion, and being the leader of your own life or the hero of your own life which leads to inspiring others to be heroes as well. Students and faculty alike were inspired by his message.

"Mad Dog Bowden" Motorcyles in to Save the Day!

Mr. Bowden, an avid dirt bike rider, rode his motorcycle in to save the day as a Diamond Fork Hero in the assembly today to give our Juliette a "biker" flag for her scooter so she could be seen in the halls.

Our Nebo after school clubs will be starting soon. Please click on the "Nebo After School Program" tab at the top of our webpage, you will see a PDF "Fall 2017 Flyer" with a list of all the classes. It is very well organized and is a great opportunity for students to try something new!

New Student Party

Thanks to Mr. Claybaug, the Latinos In Action, and our Counselors (Mrs. Caceras, Mr. Gull & Mr. Mundinger) for welcoming our new students to Diamond Fork. This afternoon there was a large "get to know you" party, and pizza! Lots of fun was had by all those who attended and hopefully made new friends.

Hope For Houston

Diamond Fork Jr. High is having a Hope for Houston day tomorrow, Wednesday August 30th. Our students and faculty have been impacted and want to do something to help. Tomorrow we are asking anyone who would like to donate $1 to this cause.  If any students would like to show their support they can wear their cowboy boots, hats, bolo ties, anything that a Texas cowboy would wear. The $1 donation and dress up is NOT MANDATORY. If students would like to participate they may, it is not a requirement. Thanks!

9th Grade Team Time Heros

Mrs. Burr spent Thursday meeting with all of our 9th grade students. She talked with them about the role they play in Team Time. Our ninth grade students play an important role as hero leaders in our school. They are a great group of kids and will do a fantastic job this year!

Golf Meeting & Tryouts

  • Those students interested in trying out for our Diamond Fork golf team need to attend the information  meeting this Thursday, August 24th at 2:45 in Mr. Binghams room, that is out in portable room 3. The tryout is open for students in all grades. If you can’t make the meeting please still visit with Mr. Bingham so he can get you signed up for tryouts. Something new this year that you will need to do BEFORE you try out is have your physical done. You can’t participate in tryouts until that is completed. Tryouts will start next Monday the 28th at 3:30 PM up at Spanish Oaks golf course.

Cross Country Meeting

  • For all those interested in participating with the Diamond Fork cross country team, there is a meeting on Tuesday, Aug 29 at 3:00 in Coach Claybaugh's room which is in the technology building. Come to receive important information about the season and ready to run because practice will start right after. There are no tryouts for cross country, everybody is welcome to join! A huge thanks to our Diamond Fork Faculty for being heros on the first day of the 2017-18 school year. Every staff member at Diamond Fork and the district will wear their Nebo Hero t-shirt twice a month to show support in being at our best when it matters most for our students. We look forward to a fantastic school year!

School Community Council Application

Parents,

 If you are interested in participating on the Diamond Fork Jr. High School Community Council this upcoming school year please fill out the attached application. Applications will also be available at our Open House on Monday the 21st of August from 3-5 PM. The purposes for School Community Councils are:• To build consistent and effective communication among parents, employees and administrators• To allow parents an opportunity to be actively involved with the school in their children’s education• To make good schools better There are three possible openings on the council. Candidates must have applications in by 8 AM on Friday September 1st. An election will be held IF more parents apply than there are available openings.
