Wilson Lions are working hard to set Wildly Important Goals or WIGS. Early last month Mr. Rawlings went to each class to introduce our two school-wide WIGS. As a school, we have set an Attendance WIG: 90% of the students at Wilson Elementary will have 93% on-time attendance by the end of Term 1 (October 26th). In addition to our Attendance WIG, we will also have a school-wide Reading WIG. Along with our two school WIGs, Wilson Lions will have a grade, a class, and a personal WIGs. Good luck Lions in setting your goals!

Wilson Elementary Student Lighthouse have a very important role at our school. Members help share their peers’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the school faculty. They also help with school wide projects that enhance a sense of community within the school. They assist the Teacher Lighthouse Team when they need aid. Student Council creates citizens who demonstrate communication, responsibility, and empathy for others.  These traits give them the foundation to become impactful future leaders of our school and ultimately, society.

This year our SLH includes 6 sixths graders, Justice Corona, Alex Risenmay, Daphne Romrell, Baylee Brokaw, Maddison Stevens, and Jayla Bundy. 6 Fourth Graders, Ty DeHart, Gabe Depew, Jaxon Dalley, Evan Nielson, Sierra Snyder, and Gracie Raff. We have also included 3 fourth graders this year, Tasia Rohback, Kaleb Keig, and Miranda Walker.

A key component of this initiative is the development of the PEAK Award. The PEAK (Positive Energy and Kindness) Award is presented monthly to someone in the Nebo School District who "really gets it" when it comes to providing exceptional customer service, which in turn results in positive impacts on everyone including students, parents, co-workers and members of the community.

Who Gets Nominated?
Faculty and staff members are nominated by anyone in the community through the Nebo School District website, www.nebo.edu/PEAK wherein a special Customer Service link is provided. The directions as to how to nominate an employee for the PEAK Awards are clearly spelled out on the site. All nominations must include information on how the individual has provided exceptional customer service, as well as how the employee's actions impacted the nominator's overall perception of Nebo School District Schools. Principal’s Message

Welcome Back! There is nothing better than students, teachers, and our Wilson community busy in our school. We are excited for year two as a Leader in Me School. We spent year one focusing on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. This year, we get to work on Wildly Important Goals (WIGs).

As a school, we have set an Attendance WIG: 90% of the students at Wilson Elementary will have 93% on-time attendance by the end of Term 1 (October 26th). I have met with the students and shared this goal with them along with ideas for things they can do to achieve this goal. In addition to our Attendance WIG, we will also have a school wide Reading WIG that will be shared with the students during the month. In addition to our two school WIGs, your student will have grade, class, and personal WIGs. Goal setting and understanding how to achieve success are an important part of being confident leaders.

We are excited for the growth your students will experience as they learn to set, work through, and accomplish their WIGs. Remember that the Leader in Me can be a part of your home, too. Maybe a Family WIG would work for you!

Thank You – Principal Rawlings

Attributions:

It is time for another year of choir to begin! Choir is for ANY 2nd to 6th graders. We learn a variety of songs and have performances in December. Rehearsals are on Tuesdays from 2:45-3:45 in the lunchroom beginning August 28th. As a rule, if there is school we have choir.

The purpose of choir is to gain a greater love of music, have the opportunity to perform and be a part of an amazing group. Members of the choir should attend all rehearsals, be respectful of Miss Diana and other choir members, and HAVE FUN!

Every choir member needs to have a choir shirt that can be worn for rehearsals and MUST be worn for performances. The shirt color and design will never change, so once you have a shirt there is no cost to be in the choir. If you are new and need a shirt, or just want a new shirt, you can order one.

To become part of our Wilson Choir, please fill out the form from the office and bring $5 for a shirt if you ordered one to the office. Make checks payable to Wilson Elementary.

If you have any questions, please give me a call or send me an email. Diana Hunt 801-367-8658 dmbh@hotmail.com. I can’t wait! See you there!
