This year Spring Lake reconized Kathy Shaw as an outstanding educator. Collegues said of Kathy:

"I have worked at many school with many special education teachers over the year.  I am continually impressed with Kathy's deep commitment and love for her students.  She gives 110% every single day in her job and is always so pleasant and kind to everyone.  She truly cares about her students and is dedicated to their success.  We are so lucky to have Kathy on our faculty."

"Kathy is amazing! She always does way more than her job description. She has even helped students, who have little home support, complete a book for a book report, and supported them with their final product. Kathy works so well with our team to do math reteach. She is always positive. She finds what it takes to get the job done and then does more than that. We are so lucky to have Kathy at Spring Lake!

Kathy works with children that require special services.  There are a number of stresses that go with that - including behaviors, parents, and a LOT of paperwork.   Kathy always tries to do things right for the children and right as far as legal paperwork requirements.  She may sigh or express her concerns but she always patiently perseveres.  Kathy is WONDERFUL!"

"Kathy is a hard working, talented, kind person.  She goes above and beyond in everything she does.  She has such a positive, can-do attitude.   She really cares about the students of Spring Lake Elementary plus the teachers.    She is a wonderful teacher and colleague!"

"Kathy Shaw is the most positive, happy, person ever!  In IEP's she is professional, positive and does such an awesome job explaining difficult things for parents.  She is a GEM and goes above and beyond when helping kids and teachers."

"Kathy is simply amazing. For several years now, Kathy taken on a heavy load. The situation in Special Ed has not been easy and is still not easy, but Kathy has willing jumped in to pull her own load and so much more. Her willingness to help others and find ways to make a difficult situation better is truly admirable. Thanks Kathy!!!"

SafeUT App

Thu, 02/22/2018 - 7:08am
SafeUT Awareness Days February 22 & 23   In light of the recent events in Florida and other tragedies that have happened around the country, Nebo School District is teaming up with KSL on February 22, 2018, as we Stand Up for a Safe Utah. Utah has a very powerful resource and that is the SafeUT app.  As you all know, the SafeUT app provides real-time crisis intervention and has been proven to save lives and stopped planned school attacks.  Our goal is to make sure that every parent, student and educator is aware of the app and has it downloaded on their phone.    Throughout the day, KSL will be highlighting all that the app can do, the history behind it, the success stories and much more. In addition, there will be some fun for the students. Below is the outline to encourage student involvement: ·        Encourage your friends to download the app ·        Use hashtag #SafeUT on posts and #springlakeelem   #unexpected #springlakehawks #springlakeelem   KSL Contest: Individuals will be able to share a screenshot of their phone with the app downloaded for a chance to win a $50 visa card.   These screenshots will need to be posted in the contest on the KSL TV Facebook page.   The school that is tagged the most by their students will receive 100 pizzas from KSL!   The contest will start Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m.   Watch KSL News at 5 p.m. on Friday to see which school will be receiving 100 pizzas! #unexpected #springlakehawks #springlakeelem   #nebohero #studentsuccess #empowerstudents #engagestudents #focusonstudents #loveUTpublicschools #utpol #uted #NeboDistrict #NeboSchools #safeUT

Nebo School District is always trying to improve communication and responsiveness to our stakeholders. To that end, we invite students, parents and teachers to give feedback on teachers and administrators in Nebo District schools.  A link to the Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018 will be found on the Nebo home page at www.nebo.edu beginning Wednesday, February 7 and remaining open until Wednesday, February 21, 2018, where Nebo District stakeholders will be able to share their thoughts and experiences. (Parents and employees will be emailed a link to help them gain access, while students will be shown the link in their computer labs.)

The purpose of the Nebo Stakeholder Survey is to help us improve instruction and to keep our finger on the pulse of our patrons. For feedback to be most useful, we suggest being polite even when sharing intensely positive or negative feelings, sharing specific experiences that illustrate your ratings, and using appropriate language in all circumstances.

Thank you for your helpful feedback.

They enjoyed learning about the vital work that goes on at the Capitol for our state’s citizens. While there, students had an opportunity to see the state legislature in action by observing in both the senate and house galleries. Both Senator Henderson and Representative Marc Roberts took time to meet with students, share their experiences and answer questions about serving in the Legislature. The day ended with the students being given a private tour of the building. This field trip served as a wonderful culmination for their Constitution unit.
