In light of the recent events in Florida and other tragedies that have happened around the country, Nebo School District is teaming up with KSL on February 22, 2018, as we Stand Up for a Safe Utah. Utah has a very powerful resource and that is the SafeUT app.  As you all know, the SafeUT app provides real-time crisis intervention and has been proven to save lives and stopped planned school attacks.   Our goal is to make sure that every parent, student and educator is aware of the app and has it downloaded on their phone.  Throughout the day, KSL will be highlighting all that the app can do, the history behind it, the success stories and much more. In addition, there will be some fun for the students. Below is the outline to encourage student involvement:·        Encourage your friends to download the app·        Use hashtag #SafeUT on posts KSL Contest: Individuals will be able to share a screenshot of their phone with the app downloaded for a chance to win a $50 visa card. These screenshots will need to be posted in the contest on the KSL TV Facebook page. The school that is tagged the most by their students will receive 100 pizzas from KSL! The contest will start Thursday, February 22 and end on Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m. Watch KSL News at 5 p.m. on Friday to see which school will be receiving 100 pizzas!

Stakeholders Survey

Attributions: Lana Hiskey

Nebo School District is always trying to improve communication and responsiveness to our stakeholders. To that end, we invite students, parents and teachers to give feedback on teachers and administrators in Nebo District schools.  A link to the Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018 will be found on the Nebo home page at www.nebo.edu beginning Wednesday, February 7 and remaining open until Wednesday, February 21, 2018, where Nebo District stakeholders will be able to share their thoughts and experiences. (Parents and employees will be emailed a link to help them gain access, while students will be shown the link in their computer labs.)

The purpose of the Nebo Stakeholder Survey is to help us improve instruction and to keep our finger on the pulse of our patrons. For feedback to be most useful, we suggest being polite even when sharing intensely positive or negative feelings, sharing specific experiences that illustrate your ratings, and using appropriate language in all circumstances.

Thank you for your helpful feedback.

Borealis Blue Pack had a fun time at their party today. Blue pack were the winners for Term 2. Let me tell you a little about the packs. The entire Barnett Elementary, faculty and students were placed into packs. They were placed into a pack by spinning a wheel that designated a pack for them. Then as an entire pack they try to earn pack points by being on their best behavior whereever they are in the school. Any faculty member in the school can give a student a pack point for good things they see happening. Borealis Blue worked so hard in Term 2 and earned the party. It was a pie face party! At the end of the party, students enjoyed an ice cream sandwich as they watched, some of their very own teachers get pie faced!

Fire Drill Practice

Fri, 01/12/2018 - 3:53pm
Attributions:

Barnett Elementary knows how important it is to be prepared. Even in the most serious incidents. Our first week back from Winter Break, we had a fire drill. The alarms sound and flash, but no worries, Barnett students know what to do. They quickly line up and are prepared to exit out the closest door. Teachers lead them out to a designated safe location and take count of the students they have. When all students are accounted for, the classes reenter the school knowing they have just accomplished another important drill.

A good teacher has been defined as an individual who can understand those who are not good at explaining, and explain to those who are not very good at understanding.  Dwight D. Eisenhower

This is so true of Shalyn.  As long as I have know her(which is a very long time) she has always been a kind and caring person.  She is also very happy and  positive.   Shalyn is always willing to give it a try, no matter what is whether it is ice skating/dancing or finding solutions for each students’ needs.  She  does not give up and works until she finds something that will help.  She lives for the success and happiness of others, especially her students. It is no coincidence that her classroom is a place where her students feel safe, valued, and successful. Shalyn is a loving and hardworking person who brings happiness and support to everyone she works with.

Congratulations Shalyn! We are so lucky to have you at Barnett!

Our teachers came together in teams to make gingerbread displays.  The rules were simple, your entry could not already be put together and you had one hour to do it all.  The creations were displayed in the school and then given away to students to take home and decorate their homes with.  It was a new tradition of working togehter, synergizing, and having fun.  ENJOY THE PICTURES!

Principals 200 Club Winners

Thu, 12/14/2017 - 9:46am
Attributions:

Students at Barnett Elementary have been working hard this month to earn Brag Notes. When a student earns a brag note their name is added to the Principal’s 200 Club Board. Brag notes can be earned by living the 7 Habits, working hard in school, and being a good example of a leader just to name a few things. Once the board is full of student names we have a drawing for books and prizes. Here are our winners for the month of December. Thanks for making so many good choices Barnett Bulldogs!
