Veteran's Day at Sage Creek

Thu, 11/16/2017 - 4:33pm

Sage Creek had a delightful Veteran's Day program.  Mr. Bill Wright, mayor-elect of Payson City, came and talked to the children about his life growing up on a military base as well as his career as a police officer and police chief of Payson.  His message was shared with the school as our 5th gr students sang multiple patriotic songs including singing and signing the national anthem.  Jonathan Young from Springville High School played taps for the students following a moment of silence.  It was a touching and moving assembly for all involved.  We especially appreciated our speaker was the grandfather of three of our students - Lizzie, Kathrine, and Daniel Wright.

Ms. Lund's 2nd gr class sure shows school spirit!  They are the class spotlight this week.  It started with 4 girls who helped Ms. Lund pick up some litter when she was on playground duty 2 weeks ago. Ms. Lund says, "We  picked up a few pieces of litter, and then found a big black trash bag on the ground. We filled it up before recess was over.  The next day, the 4 girls picked up litter again, with several more kids helping. They are still picking up bags of litter every day at recess, and are keeping our field litter-free. Now, if I can get them to figure out a better name than The Garbage Club..."  Way to go Ms. Lund's class!

5th grade students have done it once again. They have worked hard, and shown what it looks like to be a great American. They each picked a famous American that had an impact on this great country. We had presidents, actors/actresses, abolitionists, astronauts, and many other great Americans. 5th grade put on an incredible show Thursday evening to show friends and family what they have learned about Americans. They sang songs and memorized speeches for people to listen to. On Friday they shared their speeches with their fellow Dragons. They also gave a great assembly. Mr. Wright's father came to speak about the military, we also had an amazing student from SHS play taps on the trumpet. This was a very special day at Sage Creek. Thank you to all of those who serve this country. Happy Vetrans Day

Counselor's Corner - A Message on Student Empowerment

Sun, 10/29/2017 - 3:31pm
Attributions:

At Sage Creek, our counselor, Mr. Anderson, began a school-wide iniative that is designed to empower students.  We call it "Big Deals & Little Deals and What To Do When They Happen to You" and it gives students tools and resources to draw from to first determine if something that happens is a little deal or a big deal and steps to take in either situation.   Mr. Anderson spends time in each classroom every month to discuss the  principles involved with "Big Deal - Little Deal" and the entire staff and studentbody has adopted the language.  The attached link describes the program more thoroughly.  Kudos to Mr. Anderson for helping our students become better problem solvers!
