Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018

Wed, 02/14/2018 - 7:42am

Nebo School District is always trying to improve communication and responsiveness to our stakeholders. To that end, we invite students, parents and teachers to give feedback on teachers and administrators in Nebo District schools.  A link to the Nebo Stakeholder Survey 2017-2018 will be found on the Nebo home page at beginning Wednesday, February 7 and remaining open until Wednesday, February 21, 2018, where Nebo District stakeholders will be able to share their thoughts and experiences. (Parents and employees will be emailed a link to help them gain access, while students will be shown the link in their computer labs.)

The purpose of the Nebo Stakeholder Survey is to help us improve instruction and to keep our finger on the pulse of our patrons. For feedback to be most useful, we suggest being polite even when sharing intensely positive or negative feelings, sharing specific experiences that illustrate your ratings, and using appropriate language in all circumstances.

Thank you for your helpful feedback.

Park's 2018 Teacher of the Year

Fri, 02/02/2018 - 2:59pm

Last week, Park staff nominated and then voted on a Park Teacher of the Year for the 2017-2018 school year. The Teacher of the Year for Park is Ms. Carrie Dunn. Here are what a few of her colleagues said about her:

“She is amazing. She puts so much time and effort to understand her students and to meet their needs. She is great to work with. She has a positive word for everyone. She is always willing to help. She is always trying to learn more and improve her skills.”

“She is always going above and  beyond the expectation of a teacher. She is involved in multiple ways to help our school and faculty. She does whatever anyone needs and always smiles about it.”

“She has an amazingly organized classroom and creative ideas. My daughter saw her snowman Leader in Me done by her students in the hall and was impressed. She comes early and even comes in on weekends, etc. She has a radiant smile on her face and shows true patience for her students.”

Park wouldn’t be as amazing as it is with Ms. Dunn! We are so lucky that we get to call her a Park Panther. This award is very much deserved.
Congratulations Ms. Dunn!

A Message from Your Family Connection Leaders

Thu, 02/01/2018 - 9:57am
Attributions: Carrie Dunn

Our Family Connection Leaders are working hard to help us use the 7 Habits in our everyday lives. For the month of January, they focused on First Things First and setting priorities. Ask your student if they are putting First Things First. They were challenged to set their priorities and think about their schedule to get the most important things done and still have time for fun. The Family Connection Leaders would love to hear about how you are using the 7 Habits at home. Please encourage your student to share these successes with the Family Connection Leaders or email Ms. Dunn at Keep putting First Things First!

Meet Ms. Boyer

Thu, 12/14/2017 - 12:51pm

I am so excited to be joining the 6th grade team at Park Elementary. Although I am coming later in the school year, I have confidence we will have a great rest of the year. I am so excited to meet your child and get to know them.

A little about me..

I was born September 21st, 1995 in American Fork, Utah. I have moved several times and my family currently lives in London, England. I attended Brigham Young University and loved every minute of it. I am passionate about education and am excited to be a sixth grade teacher. Ever since I was little I have prized learning. My desire to learn has influenced every aspect of my life, including my desire to be a teacher. My grandmother was a teacher for 25 years and I hope to continue her legacy by serving the children I teach.

My teaching Philosophy

I believe in creating a community of learners where each child feels valued and able to grow as an individual. In order to do this, my classroom will need to be a safe environment where students feel comfortable with myself and their peers. I plan to create authentic learning experiences and reach each students’ diverse needs. I am excited to take part in Park’s unique leadership program and help students take charge of their own learning. Having met the sixth grade team and other faculty and staff, I am positive we will have a great experience.

I am so excited to jump in and work hard with each of my students and I look forward to meeting you!

Inclement Weather Procedure

Thu, 12/07/2017 - 9:04am

Throughout the winter months, there is an increased possibility of school disruptions due to inclement weather. This post is intended to give you a brief overview of what to expect during an inclement weather event.

Some have asked what Nebo School District's procedure is regarding inclement weather. Simply put, Nebo School District will be open and functioning normally throughout the winter unless parents/guardians and employees are notified otherwise.

The decision to cancel or delay the start of school is a very complicated process.  Nebo School District is a large district covering over 1,300 square miles.  Conditions in one area of the district can be very different from conditions in another part of the district. Weather is unpredictable and can change quickly.

On occasion, weather may be so extreme the district may close schools or implement a Delayed Start. If a Delayed Start is called at your particular school, a notice will be sent via phone, text, or email and your school's starting time will be postponed for two hours. Although the start time will be delayed two hours, we will work to ensure that the school itself will be open by the regular start time in order to accommodate working parents and students that arrive early.

Unfortunately, experience has taught us that there is no single decision that will accommodate the desires of every patron and employee. That being the case, Nebo District is supportive of individual decisions regarding safe travel during inclement weather.  Please evaluate your individual situation regarding travel to school. The option to keep children home when weather conditions are severe is always at the parents' discretion and schools have been asked to respect and honor parent decisions. Make-up schoolwork may be necessary, but schools will accommodate students on the timely completion of required assignments or tests.

If you have questions regarding the status of your school during inclement weather, please visit our website at You will find a link on the left side of the home page that will take you to our Inclement Weather page. We plan to post inclement weather decisions on our site no later than 6:30 a.m. on the morning of the event.

Thank you for your support of our district and your local schools. Working together we can make this a better world for the students of Nebo School District.
