Every morning you can hear Phyliis’ cheerful “ good morning! It’s going to be a great day! “ as she comes down the hall after arriving to school. She approaches teaching with an enthusiasm and exciting energy that can’t help but inspire you as a member of her team. She has a song for everything and is happy and positive. I don’t believe that any other Kindergarten has more celebrations during the year than Mt Loafer Kindergarten has. She makes teaching and going to Kindergarten so much fun. She goes above and beyond in any assignment given to her, as we as a school have seen when she is involved in Red Ribbon week, friendship week, and currently our new reading board outside of the office. Mt Loafer is very lucky to have such a teacher who truly has created a legacy to remember in our school.
Recently Nebo School District applied to earn the Energy Star Certification. Air quality, lighting quality, and the overall Energy Use Index readings and calculations of each facility are taken into account. Nebo is pleased to announce that of 44 facilities ALL 44 earned the Energy Star Certification. With 44 Energy Star Certifications earned, Nebo School District has the most certified failities out of any organization in the state of Utah. This is an amazing feat to qualify a building in the top 75% compared to other schools in the nation. Our district average score was 99, with many buildings scoring a perfect 100!
Job well done to Nebo School District and Mt. Loafer Elementary School.

In light of the recent events in Florida and other tragedies that have happened around the country, Nebo School District is teaming up with KSL on February 22, 2018, as we Stand Up for a Safe Utah. Utah has a very powerful resource and that is the SafeUT app. As you all know, the SafeUT app provides real-time crisis intervention and has been proven to save lives and stopped planned school attacks. Our goal is to make sure that every parent, student and educator is aware of the app and has it downloaded on their phone. Throughout the day, KSL will be highlighting all that the app can do, the history behind it, the success stories and much more. In addition, there will be some fun for the students. Below is the outline to encourage student involvement:· Encourage your friends to download the app· Use hashtag #SafeUT on posts KSL Contest: Individuals will be able to share a screenshot of their phone with the app downloaded for a chance to win a $50 visa card These screenshots will need to be posted in the contest on the KSL TV Facebook page The school that is tagged the most by their students will receive 100 pizzas from KSL! The contest will start Thursday, February 22 and Friday, February 23 at 3 p.m. Watch KSL News at 5 p.m. on Friday to see which school will be receiving 100 pizzas! #nebohero #studentsuccess #empowerstudents #engagestudents #focusonstudents #loveUTpublicschools #utpol #uted #NeboDistrict #NeboSchools #safeUT

Our Mt. Loafer 6th Graders had the opportunity this week to attend the BYU Sports Hero day. There were just shy of 1,000 6th grade students that attended this event.
The students participated in various stations put together by almost all of the BYU athletics teams. Each station had an activity that was led by athletes from the respective sport, giving the students the opportunity to interact with their BYU sports heroes.
The last stop for the students was a pep rally run by the BYU cheer squad and Cougarettes. Following the cheers, four BYU athletes addressed the crowd: including football and baseball player Matt Bushman. They Spoke to the students about the importance of Goal Setting and never giving up. It was a great field trip!
