Our Book Fair is going on this week before and after school. Come by and buy a book. There is a great selection. We love our PTA!!
Reflections is an awesome program our school takes part in every year, where students can submit original works of art based on a certain theme. This year's Reflections theme is "Heroes Around Me." Students may create an original work of art from six categories: visual arts, photography, literature, music composition, dance choreography, and film production. Entries should be turned in to the office by October 19th. See the video link below, the attached flyer, or the information pages in the office for more details. We can't wait to see your entries!

Some members of the Utah Opera came to our school today for an assembly! They taught us many different things about music and opera, and we also got to see some fun performances. Thank you, Utah Opera!
Bring your family, friends and neighbors to Glen Ray's Corn Maze. Ten percent of the admission will go to Santaquin Elementary PTA.
Come have a donut and read a book with your child at Parents and Pastries on Wednesday, September 19 from 8 - 8:55 am
Mr. Rogers’ mother taught him when something bad happens, look for the helpers. We can focus on the bad, or on the helpers. Our second graders wrote about the heroes in their lives and what makes them a hero. We are so thankful for our military heroes.

Today, fifth graders learned about and reflected on the events that occured on September 11th and the days that followed. They participated in class discussions, wrote letters to local police and firefighters, and made flag pins to help them remember the things they will learn about in American history this year, and to appreciate those who sacrificed on this day 17 years ago.
Due to the opening of Apple Valley Elementary, our School Community Council membership was taken down to only 2 remaining members, and 1 of the 2 was up for re-election by ballot. Because of this unique circumstance, I requested for any parent that showed interest in participating to let it be known by email, phone call, or personal drop in. This message was emailed out to all parents via the district Blackboard Communication System.
I am happy to say that because we needed a whole new council, I have invited all who showed interest a position for the 2018-2019 school year. This is a two year commitment by parents. Thank you for giving your time to our school. The bi-laws state that we should continue with approximately 50% on each year and 50% going out after their second year. With that being said, if you are interested in joining the School Community Council in either 2019 or the following year, 2020, please let Mrs. Hunter know some time during the year. If we have more interest than spots available, names will be placed on a ballot for parent voting.
School Community Council and PTA are both great ways for parents to learn more about our school and to have a voice.
