A semester in girls P.E.

In PE This year we have done a lot of fun and challenging things. Yet we have had so much fun. In the beginning of PE, we did land paddling it was so fun. Land paddling is where you have a paddle board then you have a paddle that looks like a real paddle but had a rubber end to it that helped you stop. It was ultimately fun.

After we did volleyball. The hard part in volleyball was that a lot of us couldn’t get it above the net, but it was still very fun to play.

After volleyball we did basketball. Basketball was very fun and challenging at the same time. We had a very hard time trying to make it into the hoop. Lucky we all pretty much figured it out.

Now we are working on dance. We just did a dance where we had to choreograph our own dance in a group. Then we got to perform it in front of the whole PE class. Girls PE is very fun and we love being there.

Christmas Recorders

Salem Elementary News - Wed, 12/20/2017 - 11:17am

(more pictures available)

It is a well known fact at Salem Elementary that when you enter the fifth-grade you will get to learn to play the recorder.  It is something that every student anticipates, for they have had the privilege of watching the fifth-graders perform Christmas songs on their recorders each year.

Fifth-graders are dedicated to learning to play this musical instrument, and by the time their Recorder Concert rolls around they are ready to deliver a great performance.  During the last week of school before Christmas Break, Fifth-graders weave their way through the school making an appearance in each classroom to perform some Christmas songs.  They also share their new talent with their parents during a Recorder Concert.  Good job fifth-graders, and keep practicing that musical instrument.

Reminder that the Christmas Recorder Concert for parents is today at 2:30.

All the hard work finally paid off when Mr. Hansen's sixth-graders performed A Christmas Carol.  Students had been working for months to memorize and perfect each of their parts.  There were days when they even sacrificed some of their P.E. time to practice the play.  By the time the big night rolled around, they were well prepared to entertain us all!

Just a reminder that there will be a performance at 6:00 tonight for parents..
