Constitution Day

Barnett Elementary News - Fri, 09/21/2018 - 6:29pm

(more pictures available)

Monday, September 17, Barnett leaders gathered together in unity as we celebrated Constitution Day as a school. Our hosts of the assembly were members of the Student Lighthouse. Barnett Elementary joined together in singing “You’re a Grand Ole’ Flag”. Three sixth grade students, one from each class, gave amazing speeches on what Constitution day meant to them. Barnett Leaders were inspired as they thought about the freedoms we have and how grateful we are to live in such an amazing country. The students then sang, “The National Anthem”. What a wonderful day to be a Barnett Bulldog!

Principal’s Message

Welcome Back! There is nothing better than students, teachers, and our Wilson community busy in our school. We are excited for year two as a Leader in Me School. We spent year one focusing on the 7 Habits of Happy Kids. This year, we get to work on Wildly Important Goals (WIGs).

As a school, we have set an Attendance WIG: 90% of the students at Wilson Elementary will have 93% on-time attendance by the end of Term 1 (October 26th). I have met with the students and shared this goal with them along with ideas for things they can do to achieve this goal. In addition to our Attendance WIG, we will also have a school wide Reading WIG that will be shared with the students during the month. In addition to our two school WIGs, your student will have grade, class, and personal WIGs. Goal setting and understanding how to achieve success are an important part of being confident leaders.

We are excited for the growth your students will experience as they learn to set, work through, and accomplish their WIGs. Remember that the Leader in Me can be a part of your home, too. Maybe a Family WIG would work for you!

Thank You – Principal Rawlings
