Macie Steele Receives PEAK Award!

Taylor Elementary News - Wed, 01/10/2018 - 8:59pm

Macie Steele was nominated by Courtney Corbin for a PEAK award which is given to those who go above and beyond in Nebo School District.  She was presented her Award at Wednesday night's Board Meeting.

“Macie worked at our school in the lunch room. She knows every kid by name and dances around wearing her ‘Taco Tuesday’ headband. She sings to the kids coming through the line about all of the yummy ingredients in the day's meals. She reminds the students to grab their fruits and veggies.

“We have a special needs employee that also works in the lunchroom. Macie makes her feel like a million bucks. When this employee had a primary dance to attend, Macie brought her a special shade of pink lip gloss to wear for the evening. Macie escorted this employee to our school's birthday party as her special guest. They walked arm in arm the entire night. When the employee went to Disneyland, Macie made the student a special travel bag for the plane.”

Mrs. Searle hosted her second annual Red Ribbon Week wristband competition. This competition included her B1 class to see who could keep their Red Ribbon Week wristband on the longest. Last year the competition was a two-way tie only because the class was ending. This year, there is an official winner, Brian Espinoza. Brain said, “Sometimes i just wanted to take it off and others wanted to rip it off.” His prize was the satisfaction of winning and some wool socks.

The competition started October 23, 2017,and after 82 days, Brain is still wearing the wristband. Mrs Searle said, the reason why I hold these competitions is because being Drug free  should not just be for a week, it should be all the time.

Gaming and You!

Payson High School News - Tue, 01/09/2018 - 10:53am

Do you play games a lot? Do you love playing them? If you said yes to any of these questions then you are a gamer! Some people think gaming is bad, and they are right when it comes to some things, but that’s only if you mistreat gaming. “Wait, what do you mean by mistreat?”  Well I mean you play them when you shouldn’t be playing them instead of working on your job or schoolwork. But you can still play them when you are all done. Now I know you are going to say. “But everyone knows that!” But the things is: no one does, so get it under control.

Now let's talk about all the GOOD things gaming does. For starters it makes people develop coordination and on-the-spot thinking. Most games throw challenges at the player, making them react instantly along with minimap placements and distance. Other sets of games teach you to make moral choices, ways to make a strategy or a plan, and how to pay attention to detail.

Did I mention that gaming can grow sibling relationships? Now I would like to tell you about some games that help prove my point. The first game I would like to tell you about is Human: Fall Flat. In this game you and a friend can play together, either online or on the couch, and you must either complete different goals. This game is on many different platforms, whether it be computer or console. Another game I would like to tell you about is called Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime. In this split screen game you and a friend can control a ship to fight various monsters and get back to the other ship.

These are just some examples of some great games. There are more of these games out there, you just have to go looking for them!
