Walmart Gives

Payson High School News - Wed, 09/27/2017 - 10:43am

Friday, September 8th and Tuesday September 12th were “days of giving” for the Walmart located in Payson. Walmart showed up at Payson High School with a wooden pallet full of school supplies for the teachers and students. This was a very unexpected gift that was very much appreciated. One teacher who benefitted from this donation was Señor Peck. He said, “It wasn’t anything huge some red pens and other school supplies, but it was definitely appreciated.”

Something like this has never been done before here at Payson High. It was very random and out of the blue. The school never asked for this, it was just a random act of kindness that was very appreciated by students and teachers at PHS. It was very kind of Walmart to do this once, but it’s even better that they did it twice.

Comeback season

Payson High School News - Wed, 09/27/2017 - 10:37am

Payson wrestling is a very successful and very strict tradition among those that are involved with this brutal sport. The physical and emotional exhaustion carries on throughout the months of the season. The commitment and the sacrifice given by the wrestlers is tremendous. Everyday is another opportunity to improve and get better individually and as a team, it is no secret that wrestling is a challenging sport, and especially at Payson. Last wrestling season the state title was just within their reach, but fell short and lost the state title to Wasatch. The coaches at Payson high have high expectations for this next year's wrestling team with their eyes set upon another state championship for the 2017-18 season.

Coach Jeb clark, of the Payson wrestling team, has started to hold pre-season practices on tuesdays and wednesdays from 7:00 to 8:30 pm in preparation for the new season that will be starting in November.

There is a classroom inside of this school that not very many of you know about. When you walk inside the North East doors of our school, turn right, the first classroom to your left often goes unnoticed. This classroom is Mrs. Liddle’s classroom. Mrs. Liddle is the teacher of a 17 students. These are no ordinary students, these are some of the most extraordinary students this school has ever known. Mrs. Liddle teaches a Utah Community Based Transition (UCBT) class, here at Payson High School. These special ed students are some of the most fun and energetic kids I have ever met. They are all very talented in their own ways. And what they all want most, is to have fun, and be friends with all of us students.

Mrs. Liddle says the best part about working in this class is, “The kids are fun to work with, their appreciative, they like to be at school, their sad when they can’t come. It’s fun having all the different personalities.” These kids are amazing kids, they are always smiling, and love to have a good time. Their favorite extracurricular class is Law Enforcement, it is the most popular class for these kids to go to. Here’s one more quote from Mrs. Liddle, about all of the friends these kids have outside of the classroom. “We have some students that have friends outside of the class.” “This year, when I walk down the the hall with them, I hear lots of people say hi to them, and this year Leah ran for Junior Homecoming Queen.” These kids love to be involved in the same things that all of YOU are involved in.

Mrs Liddle said this about us as a student body. “I liked to say how much I appreciate the student body this year, and how welcoming they have been this year!”

Students and Mrs. Fordiani's sixth-grade class enjoyed making projects after reading the book The Westing Game. Three groups made iMovie trailers and two groups re-created either Sunset Towers or the Westing House. They were all super creative and fun to see.
