Our welding program has made it to the semifinals of a national welding contest. The schools were given the direction of "Weld it Forward" and a deadline. We have built our projects and sent them off to those in need in Mexico. But the majority of our vote comes from public voting starting the 16th of March. Voting ends the 26th of March. You can cast your vote at www.welditforward.com. If we win this, our program will receive a $20,000 supply of new welders.

The teachers at Spanish Fork Junior High would like to thank our wonderful PTA for making us feel so loved during Teacher Appreciating Week.

On Monday, March 5th, teachers were reminded they were "naturally sweet" with muffins and fruit for breakfast.  Tuesday, March 6th, the theme was "How SWEET it is to be taught by you."  We all enjoyed sweets and treats during lunch.  On Wednesday, March 7th, the PTA provided a “Thanks a Bunch Lunch.”  Teachers were able to make sandwiches, sample salads, and nibble on chips, and desserts.

Thursday, March 8th the theme was "Here is the scoop: Teachers are awesome."  Of course, the awesome PTA provided an ice cream sundae bar during lunch.

Tomorrow will wrap up the festivities for this year.  We are so grateful for the dedicated members of our PTA.  Their commitment is overwhelming.

SFJH Students Swim While It’s Snowing

What do you do when the snow is flying, and it’s twenty degrees outside?  Take a field trip to the Provo Rec Center, of course!

SFJH students had a lot of fun in the swimming pool. They were jumping off the platform, doing a lot of cool tricks, and playing water basketball.  We even had some students jump in with the water Zumba that was going on. Students did not let the bad weather keep them from having some fun in the water.

There was also a bunch of students in the basketball gym. Some intense games of 3 on 3, as well as a big game of 21, were going on. It was nice to have a lot of basketball hoops so no one really had to wait around to play.

It was a very successful field trip with lots of fun and exercise.

1st Grade Community Helper Day

Spanish Oaks Elementary News - Wed, 03/07/2018 - 9:28pm

Part of the 1st-grade core is learning about community helpers.  On community helper day, students come to school dressed up as what they want to be when they grow up.  Then we have parents come share their job with the whole grade.  They talk about how much schooling you need in order to have that as your career as well as the good and hard things they do in their job.  We had the opportunity to hear from a Nebo Credit Union President, chemist, 911 operator, electrician, police officer, beekeeper, nurse, and flutist.  It was such an educational day for the students!

1st Grade Dr. Seuss Day

Spanish Oaks Elementary News - Wed, 03/07/2018 - 9:15pm

Dr. Seuss Day is a fun day of the year because not only do students get to dress up like characters from Dr. Seuss books but they also get to complete lots of curriculum-tied Dr. Seuss activities.  We would read a Dr. Seuss book and then do an activity.  We read the book, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut" and then students filled out their Dr. Seuss hats with poems about places they can read.  We read "Green Eggs and Ham" and then ate "green eggs" which was really vanilla pudding dyed green with a vanilla wafer on top.  Another class favorite was reading "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" and then graphing rainbow goldfish.  It was a fun day to be in first grade!

DIAMOND FORK JR HIGH MUSICAL “MULAN”

Diamond Fork Junior High School News - Wed, 03/07/2018 - 12:14pm
Attributions:
  • Our Diamond Fork Jr. High will be performing Mulan Jr. starting Wednesday March 7th - Saturday March 10th. Tickets are $5 for individuals, groups of 6 cost $25. The play begins each of the nights at 7:30 PM. Hundreds of hours of preparation have gone into the performance and is sure to be a night the whole family will enjoy. Come and see the wonderful students put on an amazing show!
  • NO SAVING SEATS: Please, no saving of seats! This causes problems for everyone. We know ALL families want to sit close to the stage. It just isn’t possible. We can’t allow you to “tape off” seats, or cover them with clothing or blankets.  Your family will need to come early if they want to get specific seats, and fill them with a live body.  The doors will open ONE HALF HOUR prior to show time, so that would be 7 o’clock.
