Student Job Fair

Park Elementary News - Thu, 09/14/2017 - 4:22pm

Park Teachers believe as you  let your students lead, you'll create a school culture of leadership and student empowerment. Shared leadership is one of the most fundamental paradigms of The Leader in Me. It is rooted in the belief that everyone can be a leader.

Park Elementary will be hosting their first STUDENT JOB FAIR!  Students and parents will attend the job fair where students can apply for leadership roles at our school.  This whole night will be designed to replicate a job fair experience that you would see in the "real world" We hope you will bring your student anytime between 5:30 - 6:30 on Monday, September 18, 2017.

Just a few of the leadership roles that students can apply for:

  • Attendance Tracker (update school attendance trackers)
  • Communication Team (contact parents for special events, send Parentlink messages)
  • Computer Shut Down Team
  • Family Connection Leaders
  • Lost & Found Leaders
  • Sound Crew
  • Hall Posters & Information Team
  • Assembly Assistants

Landmark Nebo's HERO: August 2017

Landmark High School News - Thu, 09/14/2017 - 4:09pm
Attributions: Lynn Mecham At the beginning of each school year, faculty from around the district come together to hear a positive, empowering message to kick off the new school year. This year's speaker and message was one of the best I've been to; which is really saying something. Author and speaker Kevin Brown shared with us the idea and message of putting forth a H.E.R.O.'s effort.   A HERO:
  • Helps people with no strings attached.
  • Creates an Exceptional Experience for the people they serve.

Rees Elementary was honored last night with not only ONE but TWO Peak Award Winners.  Our amazing secretary Mrs. Nikki Thomas was nominated by Mr. Gull.  "“Nikki is everything you want in a secretary. She is kind, happy, professional, organized and she just gets it done! She is always so positive and happy with everyone that enters the office at Rees. She is quick to respond to the needs of parents, students, teachers and staff members. She has an incredible laugh that fills the room and just makes you feel good when you talk with her. Nikki brightens the school with her presence. Many people come to her, and she is right there to lift them up or keep them smiling. Nikki sets a professional, positive tone and is efficient in her duties. Nikki will take care of you when you visit Rees Elementary.”

Mrs. Burton is new to Rees, and has been here this year as a part time Resource teacher.  She has been a wonderful addition to our SPED department and we love having her here.  Mrs. Burton splits her time between Rees and Art City, and her principal at Art City, Mrs. Muirbrook, nominated her for the PEAK award.  "Karen absolutely loves her job. She is very experienced and knowledgeable about special education students and student development. She is willing to share her knowledge and expertise with all faculty members at any time. She has volunteered her time in other classrooms offering intervention ideas and techniques to teachers. She not only cares about her students but each student and staff member at Art City. Karen truly exemplifies positive energy and kindness.”

Congratulations to both of these very deserving ladies!!!

September 2017 Nebo PEAK Award Winner Sherri Peterson

Spanish Oaks Elementary News - Wed, 09/13/2017 - 8:16pm
(more pictures available)

“Without Sherri, our school would flounder.  Her official ‘title’ is that of facilitator.  ‘The facilitator's job is to support EVERYONE to do their best thinking and practice ... to encourage full participation, promote mutual understanding and cultivate shared responsibility.’  Notice the verb(s):  help, support, encourage, cultivate, share, etc.  Sherri is the ‘action word’ behind everything we accomplish at Spanish Oaks.  She gives of her time, talents, and resources freely, and we are all better for having known her.”  Congratulations, Mrs. Peterson ... we LOVE you!

BE SAFE On Your Way to AND From School

Spanish Oaks Elementary News - Wed, 09/13/2017 - 5:09pm

Please help us keep all our students safe ...

"Parents, please remind your children to BE SAFE while on their way to and from school.  This morning I saw four kids crash on their scooters, and several others cross without the crosswalk, or enter the crosswalk without even stopping to check for cars or wait for me to get into the crosswalk first.  Most of these incidents appear to happen because the kids are "racing" their friends or siblings.  Please remind them to slow down and be safe; cars are not always paying attention.  I saw a car turn right in front of a student this morning, and it was scary!  Also, if you are driving in the area before or after school ... please be cautious.  Thank you!"  - Spanish Fork City Crossing Guard, Aubrey Smith
