Orchestra Concert

Spanish Fork Junior High School News - Wed, 10/25/2017 - 10:37am

On October 24th, 2017, the SFJHS Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Orchestras performed at the Spanish Fork High School’s auditorium. With the concert being so close to Halloween, the orchestras dressed up in costumes. The Sixth Grade Orchestra also came and performed two songs with the Beginning Orchestra ("Sourwood Mountain" and "John Ryan's Polka"). There were all sorts of costumes at the affair. There were a ton of Star Wars costumes but most of the costumes were different.

All the orchestras sounded really good and played sensational songs. The audience also got to participate. Some songs they clapped, other songs they hit glow balls around and swayed glow sticks back and forth to the beat of the song. After the Beginning Orchestra had finished performing, Mrs. Harman did a raffle: if the number they called was yours, you got a prize (most of the prizes were candy). They also did that after the Intermediate Orchestra finished.

Afterward, the Advanced Orchestra played and did fantastic. We also found out that the Advanced Orchestra will be performing with someone from American Idol in January and will receive a check for the school! The program ended up being a blast. If you couldn't come, you can always come to the next one. The next concert is December 11th at 7:00 p.m. We hope to see you there!

Nebo District Bond Survey

Maple Mountain High School News - Wed, 10/25/2017 - 8:50am
Attributions:

Dear Parent: Nebo School District sincerely appreciates your support of Nebo School District and the opportunity to work together with you to provide an exceptional education for our students. We would appreciate your input on the Bond Survey before October 31. Please go to www.nebo.edu to begin the survey. Nebo School District is in the initial planning process for a Bond Election to be held next year on November 6, 2018. Bonding is the primary method school districts use to construct new schools and meet other facility priorities. Bond money cannot be used for salaries and benefits. Based on previous community feedback of wanting to move to the middle school model, Nebo School District plans to ask patrons to approve a $298 million dollar bond in November 2018. This tax-rate-neutral (no tax rate increase) bond will be used for: 1.   Building three new middle schools for students in sixth and seventh grade. These middle schools will be located within the boundaries of Salem Hills High, Springville High, and Maple Mountain High. As the new middle schools are completed, Mt. Nebo Junior High and Diamond Fork Junior High will become middle schools; 2.   Rebuilding Payson High, Spanish Fork High, and Springville High; and 3.    Making improvements to existing buildings and sites. It is estimated that approximately $10 million dollars of bond funds will be focused on upgrades and improvements. The Nebo School Board's decision on which projects to include will rely on public input and recommendations from parent committees. In accordance with state law, the Nebo School Board will finalize all plans prior to the 2018 Bond Election so the voting public will know the specific plans before voting. In the coming months, please continue to look for additional bond information at www.nebo.edu and in meetings held throughout Nebo School District. Again, Nebo School District sincerely appreciates your input and support of Nebo School District. Please go to www.nebo.edu to begin the survey.

ABC Celebration in Kindergarten!!  Miss Mellor's Kindergarten kids had a "poppin" good time celebrating our first trip through the ABC's.  Miss Mellor dumped a huge bag of balloons on the carpet and each student got to pop a balloon.  Hiding inside that balloon  was a letter of the alphabet.   As soon as we popped all the balloons and found all the letters we put them in ABC order on our chart.

NJHS has been really busy this term!  They’ve helped at two elementary school carnivals.  They headed up a Saturday clean up on the Spanish Fork River Trail.

More recently, they did some painting here at the school.  They’ve even entered a scarecrow at the Thanksgiving Point Scarecrow Festival.

It’s been fun.
