Brockbank Bulletin

Brockbank Elementary News - Tue, 10/09/2018 - 7:29am
Attributions:

Hello, Brockbank Families!

This week is a busy one!  We have some fun things going on!  We had our BFF lesson today on DETERMINATION!  We hope our students learned the importance of being determined in accomplishing their goals!

We have a couple of changes for the week, so please read the bulletin carefully!

Kindergarten Field Trip: Depending on the weather, our Kindergarten Field Trip could be cancelled.  We will let you know the morning of the field trip.  If it is cancelled, it will be a normal day of kindergarten.  A note/email should have or will be sent home to you with more information.

Fun Run Fundraiser:  WE WILL BE RESCHEDULING OUR FUN RUN TO WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17TH!  As we looked at the calendar, this Thursday is the wettest, coldest day of the week—of course!  So we decided to postpone our Fun Run to the next week, Wednesday, October 17th, right before Fall Break!   We will plan on 9:00 am for the am kindergarten, then 1:15-2:45 for the rest of the school!  You can either pledge by the lap, or just a flat pledge for our school.  The money that comes in from our fundraiser will go towards technology, books, and specialized classroom supplies.  As always, we do not want our students going door-to-door, but we do encourage our students contacting family and close friends.  Parents are welcome to come during the Fun Run hours and walk/jog the course along with your child.  We will have plenty of water and snacks for our students while they are jogging/walking.

Book Fair:  Our PTA Book Fair will begin with a fun “Family Event” that is scheduled for October 17th!  It will begin at 7:30 am and will be in the lunchroom.  Families are welcome to come and enjoy a doughnut and milk, then browse through the Book Fair!

Fall Break: Our Fall Break will be October 18th and 19th.  We hope you are able to do something fun with family and friends!

SEP Conferences:  Our first SEP Conference will be held Thursday, October 25th!  We are excited to celebrate your child and the good work that he/she is doing!  OUR SIGN-UPS FOR SEP CONFERENCES WILL BE AVAILABLE OCTOBER 12TH.  Parents can go to the school website, brockbank.nebo.edu,   where there will be a link for parents to sign up for conferences.

Bond Election:  We want to refer you to the district website to learn more about the upcoming bond election!  www.nebo.edu/bond2018 has information that will help you learn and understand more about this important issue!  We have information in our office about the bond and hope that you are registered to vote in the election coming up in November.

Please keep collecting your Box Tops!

If you did not get a school magnet, please grab one from the office!

We invite you to LIKE us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as our own Brockbank website!  Follow us on Instagram--#Brockbankbest, #Lookatbrockbank, and #BrockbankBFF

Please check our website for more info!

Thanks for being the BEST!

We are so grateful for your support of our school fund raiser last week ... We wanted to share some of the amazing things happening as a result of your generosity during last year's Jog-a-Thon!  Thank you for your continued support of our learning!

Our 4th graders love being able to each have their own Chromebook to create presentations, show their strategies during math, create adobe spark reports, work on ALEKs, and have time to type and edit writing assignments.  Pictures show students using Pear Deck to explain their multiplication strategies.

First grade is so grateful for all our iPads.  Students read on the iPads with hundreds of books to choose from and they can also play math and language arts games.

Students in second grade have been using their iPads to capture pictures and videos of the work that they create during math time.  This allows them to save their work so that they can easily share it with the class and their teacher at any time!  Second graders have also enjoyed using their new Chromebooks!  This week, some of the second graders were able to write stories and then type their final draft up on the computer!

Pictured are our Sixth grade students using chromebooks to type their writing.  Some students are even using voice to text!

In third grade our chrome books have been a fantastic resource in our guided reading lessons.  We have also been able to do more with our writing assignments, and the students have had access to Imagine Fast Facts and Imagine Math to practice fast facts and concepts they have been learning in class.

We love our new chrome books in 5th Grade because they allow us to do research and learn new information!

PTA's Annual Fundraiser

Sierra Bonita Elementary News - Mon, 10/08/2018 - 3:39pm

(more pictures available)

Sierra Bonita families:

This week is our PTA's annual fundraiser. We have decided to do direct donation once again so that 100% of your contributions can be used to benefit our school, teachers, and children.

We want to raise enough money to purchase new technology and office equipment for our school and fund some PTA sponsored activities. Your child should have brought home a letter and donation form today.  (they are also attached).

Please read over the letter and have your child bring back their envelope by this coming Friday, October 12th. The PTA is looking for 100% participation regardless of your contribution. If we reach our goal of $4500.00, we will tape Mr. Andersen to the wall during lunch time for all the students to see.

Thank you for your support!
