The giving tree is up, and starting tomorrow, parents can come pick an ornament off the tree to help provide a merrier Christmas to families in the area. Here's how it works:

1. Starting December 1st, adults can come pick an ornament off the tree right outside the main office. Ornaments will specify what kind of item to buy. Items range from $1 on up.

2. Go purchase the item with your students.

3. Return items in their original packaging, unwrapped, with ornament attached to the main office.

4. Gifts must be returned by Friday, December 15th.

If you'd rather, cash donations can be made online at the following website: www.cherrycreek.ecwid.com

Thank you for your generosity! It will surely warm your heart and those who will receive your thoughtful gifts.

Brockbank fourth-graders went on a field trip to, This Is The Place Heritage Park. There students were able to take part in a ‘hands-on learning’ experience that complements the state curriculum for fourth-grade Utah History. Students participated in "life in Pioneer Times" which consisted of pushing a handcart. The students discovered what it was like to come West with a handcart.  They got to ride the train around the park and visit the Native American Village. The students learned about the 5 tribes that were in the Utah territory in 1847.  The Shoshone, Goshute, Paiute, Ute, and Navajo tribes all lived in this area.  They lived in caves, teepees, hogans, and wiki-ups.It was a fun field trip and the students really enjoyed it!

Attributions: Ariane Brown, Jess Jackson

At the beginning of the year, each fifth grade class read the book Wonder by R. J. Palacio.  The students learned the importance of treating everyone with respect and "being kinder than necessary."  On Tuesday night, the fifth grade students and their families were all invited to go see Wonder together at the movie theater.  It was a great movie, with even greater company.

It was a WONDERful night for many Spanish Oaks 5th graders ...  The 5th grade classes all read Wonder as a read aloud and then planned a trip to enjoy the newly released movie together.  Students who were able to attend with their families joined the 5th grade teachers (Ms. Brown, Mrs. Jackson, Mrs. Sant) and Principal (Mrs. Brown) at the movies.  It was a WONDERful night enjoyed by all who attended!

After each part was completed on their play-doh brain, they would test each other on the roles of each part: Pre-Frontal Cortex, Cerebrum, Cerebellum, Amygdala, Hippocampus, and Brainstem. Barnett Bulldogs honored local Veterans in their Veterans Day Assembly on November 10. The Barnett Choir sang a series of songs that honored the Veterans. The whole school joined in on a song for the grand finale. After the assembly, Veterans went to classrooms as part of "Take a Veteran to School". They told stories, showed artifacts from their time in the service, and answered questions from the students. This is one of the most special days of the whole school year where we were able to meet fathers and mother, grandparents, uncles and aunts who serve and served our country.  Thank you to the men and women in the military for everything you do. We love you.
