Reflections Due - October 27th

Sierra Bonita Elementary News - Mon, 10/23/2017 - 11:02am

Our PTA is so excited for this Friday morning 8:30-9:00 am before school!  Reflections entries are due!

If at all possible, we encourage a parent a guardian to join your student when they turn their entries in so we can make sure then and there that we have the right forms and signatures filled out correctly.  This saves us time and it saves you from making an extra trip to the school.

Students will receive a small treat that morning for EACH entry they enter (they can enter up to one per category) AND the PTA sponsors this program so we can give out medals, ribbons, and/or certificates to each participant depending on the level of award they receive.  Our Reflections Honors Night will be November 14th at 7 pm and all students who enter are invited to come and celebrate their efforts with their families!

All students who receive PTA Reflections’ highest award will also be eligible to move on to the district level and beyond and receive more recognition depending on how far they go!

We love the Reflections program and we love to see our Sierra Bonita students’ imaginations come alive through art!

You can find information, forms, and rules at

Please call or text Amy van Dyk with any questions!  801-691-6931

We hope to see you and your student FRIDAY morning BEFORE school (8:30-9:00 am on the school stage)!

Nebo Education Foundation Grant Awarded to Mr. Crockett

Spanish Oaks Elementary News - Fri, 10/20/2017 - 9:46am

The Nebo Education Foundation is composed of 20 volunteer board members who live in cities serviced by Nebo School District. Each month, the foundation meets to discuss grant requests and other ways to raise money for the continual improvement of Nebo School District. For the month of October, there were many teachers who submitted requests for grant money to better their classrooms and/or school as a whole. Congratulations to the following teachers who received grants from the Nebo Education Foundation! These teachers continually benefit our district with their service to their students.

  • Spanish Oaks Elementary - Gregg Crockett

“The purpose for writing this grant was for our students to show their work that doesn't get seen.  As we move into a more technological age, students are doing more and more with digital learning. This year my class made their own websites. On these sites they will be putting other digital work, i.e.: Writing, Digital Media Arts, Slides, and many more projects to engage their learning. Unlike most of our student work that we are able to display outside in the halls, this work has gone unnoticed by the students, faculty and our community. By having a TV installed and connected to the Liva mini computer, we will be able to display ALL our students’ work in the hall. A slideshow presentation for the entire school, as well as those who enter the building, will be visible for all to see and appreciate.”

“Beyond being able to place students’ digital works on the screen, we will also be able to have announcements and reminders from the school running in banner format. This will provide a service to all patrons who enter and exit the school, informing them of what we are accomplishing with our students, and what is happening at our school.”

Introducing....Our New Student Lighthouse Team!

Wilson Elementary News - Thu, 10/19/2017 - 1:50pm
Attributions: Mr. Rawlings
(more pictures available)

This year along with becoming a Leader in Me School we have created a Student Lighthouse Team. The main aim of the SLHT is to create a stronger relationship between the students and teachers and give students a say in matters that affect them.  Members will help share their peers’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the school faculty. Student Lighthouse will also help the students raise funds for school-wide projects that enhance a sense of community within the school. They assist the Lighthouse Team when they are in need of aid. SLHT creates citizens who demonstrate communication, responsibility, and empathy for others.  These traits give them the foundation to become impactful future leaders of our school and ultimately, society.

As well as the elected representatives from each class, Mrs. Snow is the Teacher Liaison, Mrs. Partridge is the Lighthouse Team Liaison, additionally with help from Mr. Rawlings and Mrs. Kidd. The Teacher Liaisons have the responsibility for supporting the SLHT and helping support the SLHT practically and in the teaching body.

This past month students in grades 5th and 6th filled out applications and wrote an essay to tell us why they would be a great student leader for the school. Out of the applications received classes and staff voted on who would be good for the role.

The Wilson 2017-2018 Student Lighthouse Team are:

6th Grade

5th Grade:
