Mrs. Thatcher's class took a little break from all the review and end of year testing to participate in a fun STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) Activity.  Students were given craft sticks, binder clips, and clothes pins and asked to use their ceativity and problem solving skills to design a bridge and a tower.  The end goal was to design a bridge that could hold up to 40 lbs., which most groups did, and another goal was to build the highest free standing tower.  Students did a great job and had a lot of fun too!

They learned about different animal skin coverings with a hedgehog (hair), chinchilla (fur), bearded dragon (scales), and cockatoo (feathers). They also got to pet a skunk and a ringtail cat from Southern Utah, and meet Coco the bid and make feathers like his. It was a blast to ride the bus, learn about animals, and enjoy lunch on a beautiful sunny day.
