In 5th grade we finished reading the book Wonder as our class read-a-loud. So as a reward we were able to watch the movie. Students brought pillows, blankets and treats to share. It was so fun being able to compare the book to the movie to see all the differences and similarities!

Wilson Lions are working hard to set Wildly Important Goals or WIGS. Early last month Mr. Rawlings went to each class to introduce our two school-wide WIGS. As a school, we have set an Attendance WIG: 90% of the students at Wilson Elementary will have 93% on-time attendance by the end of Term 1 (October 26th). In addition to our Attendance WIG, we will also have a school-wide Reading WIG. Along with our two school WIGs, Wilson Lions will have a grade, a class, and a personal WIGs. Good luck Lions in setting your goals!

Wilson Elementary Student Lighthouse have a very important role at our school. Members help share their peers’ ideas, interests, and concerns with the school faculty. They also help with school wide projects that enhance a sense of community within the school. They assist the Teacher Lighthouse Team when they need aid. Student Council creates citizens who demonstrate communication, responsibility, and empathy for others.  These traits give them the foundation to become impactful future leaders of our school and ultimately, society.

This year our SLH includes 6 sixths graders, Justice Corona, Alex Risenmay, Daphne Romrell, Baylee Brokaw, Maddison Stevens, and Jayla Bundy. 6 Fourth Graders, Ty DeHart, Gabe Depew, Jaxon Dalley, Evan Nielson, Sierra Snyder, and Gracie Raff. We have also included 3 fourth graders this year, Tasia Rohback, Kaleb Keig, and Miranda Walker.

Boston Massacre Reenactment

Brookside Elementary News - Tue, 10/16/2018 - 3:07pm

In 5th grade social studies we've been learning about the Revolutionary War. Yesterday we were learning about the Boston Massacre where groups of colonists threw snowballs and rocks at British soldiers. We did a snowball activity where the students answered questions like "what do you do when you're upset" "How do you manage being upset" and "how did people during the revolutionary war manage being upset" and then got to throw their crumpled up paper across the room. We had a good discussion on how they managed their anger and how it affected the Revolutionary War.

Hello, Brockbank Families!

We have a short, but fun-filled week this week!  We know our students will enjoy it!

Fun Run Fundraiser:  This Wednesday, October 17th will be our FUN RUN! Mr. Clark has been busy painting the course and we are ready to run!   We will plan on 9:00 am for the am kindergarten, then 1:15-2:45 for the rest of the school!  You can either pledge by the lap, or just a flat pledge for our school.  The money that comes in from our fundraiser will go towards technology, books, and specialized classroom supplies.  As always, we do not want our students going door-to-door, but we do encourage our students contacting family and close friends.  Parents are welcome to come during the Fun Run hours and walk/jog the course along with your child.  We will have plenty of water and snacks for our students while they are jogging/walking.

Book Fair:  Our PTA Book Fair will begin with a fun “Family Event”, that is scheduled for October 17th!  It will begin at 7:30 am and will be in the lunchroom.  Families are welcome to come and enjoy a doughnut and milk, then browse through the Book Fair!

Fall Break: Our Fall Break will be October 18th and 19th.  We hope you are able to do something fun with family and friends!

SEP Conferences:  Our first SEP Conference will be held Thursday, October 25th!  We are excited to celebrate your child and the good work that he/she is doing!  OUR SIGN-UPS FOR SEP CONFERENCES ARE NOW AVAILABLE.  Parents can go to the school website, brockbank.nebo.edu,   where there will be a link for parents to sign up for conferences.  THESE LINKS WILL BE TAKEN OFF THE WEBSITE BY MONDAY, OCTOBER 22nd.  YOU WILL NEED TO CALL THE OFFICE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AFTER THAT.

Bond Election:  We want to refer you to the district website to learn more about the upcoming bond election!  www.nebo.edu/bond2018 has information that will help you learn and understand more about this important issue!  We have information in our office about the bond and hope that you are registered to vote in the election coming up in November.

School Improvement Plan:  I would like to invite you to read the attached document that explains our School Improvement Plan, the School Community Council, our Land Trust funding, and our Final Report for last year.  We invite anyone who is interested to come to our School Community Council meetings.  Please go to our website for more information.

Please keep collecting your Box Tops!

We invite you to LIKE us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, as well as our own Brockbank website!  Follow us on Instagram--#Brockbankbest, #Lookatbrockbank, and #BrockbankBFF
